Naruto is a popular franchise, but it's currently sorely lacking in anime content. The last bit of Naruto content that fans got was through Boruto. Even though Boruto wasn't universally loved, it was still a great way to see Naruto and the others in action. However, Boruto discontinued in 2023 due to many problems.
While Boruto is on hiatus, he eventually returns. No return date has been confirmed, but with Studio Pierrot bringing back the likes of Black Clover, Boruto's return is inevitable.
A return of Boruto would be great for the franchise, but so would the fans Naruto remake. Naruto is not a very old anime, but it is definitely outdated in many ways. The Naruto anime has a tremendous amount of filler and fans would welcome a modern remake. One Piece, the ongoing anime, is getting a remake from WIT Studio.
