Wooda new cozy diorama puzzle game, released a new trailer during the Nintendo Indie World Showcase on March 3, revealing that the upcoming Switch and Switch 2 this summer. Although it's only early March, Nintendo has already hosted several presentations in 2026. Several Nintendo Directs have been hosted, including one for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream and another for Super Mario Galaxy Movie. In addition, the February 5th Partner Showcase featured third-party titles coming to the Switch and Switch 2. While many Nintendo fans are still waiting for another full Nintendo Direct, they recently got a look at some upcoming indie games thanks to the new Indie World Showcase.

The latest Nintendo Indie World Showcase was packed with exciting announcements, including the long-awaited co-op sequel headed to Switch 2.

During the presentation on March 3, players were treated to a new trailer for the Wood and learned that the title will be released on Switch and Switch 2 in the summer of 2026. In the trailer, developer Tiny Monks Tales shared a closer look at the charming gameplay. As the name suggests, players must build wooden dioramas as they progress through the story with Foxy and Ben the Frog. These main characters, along with the other animals seen in the dioramas, have an adorable design that could be right up some cozy players' alley.

As a puzzle game, players are tasked with placing wooden objects into scenes to complete them. Dioramas in Wood they are set in 3D space, meaning the camera can be moved to get a better idea of where each item should be pointing. Once placed, each piece is animated to help keep the scenes dynamic. In addition, the game features a narrative that “keeps you company” while you play. It's worth noting that the Switch 2 version of the game will be compatible with the console's Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, which may add to the satisfaction of item placement.
In addition to Nintendo consoles, Wood will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC via Steam. In the case of PC, players can already try the game thanks to the Steam demo. With several dioramas, it should help players decide if the game is right for them.
Several games were lost after the Nintendo Indie World Showcase
While players will have to wait a few more months before they can play the full version WoodNintendo fans have other indie options for now. During the Indie World Showcase, many games were announced for the platform, some of which are already available. Especially, Blue Prince a shadow was dropped for the Switch 2 after the presentation. The first-person puzzle game was one of the top-rated games of last year, and was up for both Best Indie Game and Best Debut Indie Game at The Game Awards 2025. Rothwood and MiniShoot' Adventures were dropped after the event, the first being for the Switch 2 and the second also available on the Switch.
Even as first-party support for the original Switch slows down, indie developers continue to offer new experiences to gamers. The Switch 2 has sold over 17.37 million, but many gamers have yet to make the leap. Hopefully, Wood will bring cozy gaming enthusiasts to both the original Switch and its more powerful successor when it arrives later this year.
