Xbox is running a big game sale with select titles covered by the Buy 1 Get 2 Free offer. Xbox gamers looking for some new video games to play may want to check to see if their titles are on their wishlist for sale.
It's a good time to be an Xbox fan, as the first Xbox Developer Direct of the year took place on January 22nd. The show focused on four games scheduled to launch in 2026, inclusive Fable, Forza Horizon 6, Beast from Reincarnationand Furnace. With 2026 being the 25th anniversary of the Xbox family of consoles, there are likely to be more exciting events to come, including game sales.

Xbox is now hosting a Buy 1, Get 2 Free offer that can be redeemed on over 300 games and DLC from the Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One console generations. The types of indie games included in the sale vary, so fans of almost every game genre can potentially find something to interest them here. The sale will run until January 29th, so interested gamers shouldn't wait too long to check it out.

Access to Xbox Buy 1, get 2 free sale
Unfortunately, the Xbox games included in the sale cannot be viewed through a web browser, so players will have to access them through their Xbox consoles.
To do so, players should start the system and then go to the store. From there, find the Offers section and scroll until you see the Special Offers banner. The sale should be listed there and players can view a complete list of all the games included in the sale.
Get the most out of Xbox sales
While there are some good deals on indie games that gamers can potentially get here, it's worth pointing out that the sale has a few caveats that can be navigated to get an even better deal.
When the three included games are selected, the Xbox Store will automatically look at the list and determine which is the most expensive. The two least expensive games will be the ones the buyer gets for free, while the most expensive will be the ones they have to pay for. Accordingly, choosing three games with a similar price will be more beneficial to the buyer than choosing one more expensive game and two titles with a lower price. Additionally, if someone is considering buying more than one trio of games, choosing which games to include in each bundle based on their prices can lead to a better deal.
Buy 1 get 2 free isn't the only Xbox sale going on right now
Those who didn't find what they were looking for in the Buy 1 Get 2 Free sale or want other bargains are in luck, because this isn't the only sale on Xbox right now. Right before the Xbox Developer Direct, Xbox launched a sale that includes titles from several first-party developers for Xbox with some great deals. To name a few, Quantum break, Psychonauts and Psychonauts 2, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2and Alan Wake's American Nightmare are all 75% off while Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon 5 can be secured with a 50% discount. The Fable action adventure game from 2025 with a discount of 67%. South of midnight is 25% off and Ninja Gaiden 4 dropped to an all-time low price with a 30% discount.
