The next generation Xbox console could be launched in 2027

Much has been said about Xbox's new strategy. Not everyone likes the company's move away from its console-centric approach and its “Everything is Xbox” campaign. Add to that declining sales and retailers not stocking Xbox consoles or games, and you wouldn't be wrong to think there wouldn't be a next-gen Xbox.

However, Xbox has denied the claims, saying that a new console will be launched, though it will be a “premium, high-end curated experience, according to president Sarah Bond. While we still don't know exactly what that means, this new 'high-end' Xbox console could be out as early as next year.”

While Xbox didn't specifically say so, AMD CEO Lisa Su's comment certainly hints at it. Speaking to investors about the company's work on the next-gen Xbox chip, Su said it was “progressing well to support a 2027 launch” (thanks to VGC). It's worth noting that Microsoft hasn't announced a date or anything else regarding the console, and it may decide not to launch it next year.

No clear release dates for the next-gen Xbox or PlayStation consoles have been announced. In fact, insiders and analysts have suggested they may be delayed due to rising prices of RAM and other components brought on by high demand for AI data centers. Only time will tell when the next generation consoles will be officially revealed.

As for the new Xbox console, in addition to confirming that there will be one, Bond said that “the console will be a very premium, very high-end curated experience. You're starting to see some of the ideas that we have in this handheld. [ROG Xbox Ally]but we don't want to give it all away.'

The Series X|S generation hasn't been the strongest company, with recent reports revealing that it barely sold over 30,000 units in Japan last year, and that only one in five developers are even interested in making games for the X Series.
