LEGO recently unveiled his first Pokemon sets, but some fans think the Pikachu looks worse than what Mega Bloks has released in the past. While expectations were high for these new LEGO products, the reveal left some hopeful for what it contains Pokemonbeloved mascot.

New Pokemon sets from LEGO have just been revealed, and if you're on the fence about one of them, the LEGO Millennium Falcon set is the reason you should buy it right now.
LEGO fans are not happy with the Pikachu set
Among the upcoming novelties, LEGO introduced Pikachu and the Poke Ball. Priced at $199.99, the set is on the expensive side, and some fans think the design is underwhelming. Reddit posts have actually started comparing it to older Mega Bloks Pikachu sets. Specifically, the price difference was a significant negative for many people, as the 2,050-piece LEGO set came in at more than double the price. Mega Bloks has released several Pikachu sets in the past, but two of the most common are Jumbo Pikachu and Motion Pikachu, which can still be purchased for under $100. Jumbo Pikachu has 806 pieces and Motion Pikachu has 1,092 pieces, which is about half the pieces of a LEGO set. Although this is probably part of the reason for the price difference, the size of these Mega Bloks sets is similar to LEGO Pikachu.

While the price was an issue for many fans, it was compounded by what in some ways was considered an inferior design. Despite coming with a Poke Ball, the Electric-type Pokemon LEGO model looked “unusual” to some people, especially in the face. There were also concerns that the block body would not be easy to pose when removed from the stand. It's also worth noting when comparing products that Mega Bloks' Motion Pikachu includes a handle to move the model, which is missing from the more expensive LEGO set.
The LEGO Eevee Set looks better
While reception of LEGO Pikachu was poor, opinions of the Eevee set were more positive. At 587 pieces, this set is only $59.99, which is significantly cheaper than Pikachu and Poke Ball. Even though the Eevee model is smaller, many LEGO fans find the design more attractive. However, this has led people to wonder what went wrong with Pikachu's design, especially considering it's the franchise's mascot.
In addition to these two standalone models, LEGO revealed a set of Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise. While the designs of these final evolution Pokémon look somewhat similar to their in-game counterparts, the price tag comes in at a whopping $649.99 USD. This makes it the most expensive set in the line, but it contains 6,838 pieces. In addition to the Pokemon models, the base is divided into three separate areas based on water, fire, and grass types of critters.
It will be interesting to see what impact the negative discourse surrounding the Pikachu set might have on sales when the line launches on February 27th. Due to the huge popularity Pokemon franchise, these new LEGO sets will likely sell well regardless. Unfortunately, scalpers have taken advantage of this by listing the kits on eBay for huge price increases.
