The Pokemon TCG has just revealed its latest mega legendary Pokemon card

The Pokemon trading card game has officially revealed the latest set coming to the card game in Japan, featuring Mega Evolution of Zygarde as its creature. The latest era of the beloved TCG took a lot of inspiration from the latest game in the franchise, including plenty of Pokemon used in Pokemon Legends: ZA. Mega Evolution welcomed the return of the titular mechanic to the game Pokemon TCG for the first time since 2016, including mega forms of beloved Pokemon such as Gardevoir, Lucario and Charizard. Now, Pokemon has even more exciting Legends: ZA content coming to TCG.

The era of mega-evolution Pokemon TCG has already seen several sets released that will welcome Mega Pokemon back into the TCG in style. Besides the expected Mega Pokemon, a lot of past Pokemon protagonists and main characters received new cards, including Lillie, Dawn, and Wally, among several others. The latest era of the card game also brought a brand new rarity to the game, with the elusive Mega Hyper Rare cards replacing the previous Hyper Rares with significantly reduced download speeds. The Pokemon TCG now teasing their next big set in Japan and finally adding Mega Zygarde to the game.

The Pokemon Company showed off the new Munikis Zero set coming to the Pokemon TCG in Japan and teased Mega Zygarde along with many other cards. Mega Zygarde ex will serve as the main Pokémon in the set with powerful attacks that will either reduce the opponent's damage or potentially deal up to 900 damage. Mega Zygarde wasn't the only new ex Pokémon shown during the live stream, with ex Meowth allowing players to search their decks for Supporter cards. New cards for Binacle and Barbaracle were also shown during the event, which sought to provide strong energy support for Fighting-type decks. Pokemon TCG's Munikis Zero expansion will be released in Japan on January 23rd.

The new Pokemon revealed for Munikis Zero are joined by a collection of powerful trainer cards coming to the TCG. Two new Supporter cards based on Pokemon Legends: ZA characters join the game, with Naveen allowing players to reset their hands while Tarragon recycles battle pokemon and energies from the discard pile. Pokemon Legends: ZA's Lumiose City also gets a new Stadium card in the set, which allows any player to bench a basic Pokemon from the deck at the cost of ending their turn. Battle Pokemon even get a new special energy card that negates the effects of an opponent's Pokemon's attacks without taking damage.

When is Munikis Zero coming to the English Pokémon TCG?

While the set has not made an official announcement for its English version, Pokemon fans should expect Munikis Zero to arrive in Western markets. Expected to be released as the fourth major expansion of the Japanese version of the TCG after Mega Dream ex, the set is likely to launch as a main set due to its connection to Pokemon Legends: ZA. Due to the staggered release schedule of the global version Pokemon TCGfans can probably expect to see the worldwide equivalent release of Munikis Zero in late March or early April 2026.

The Pokemon TCG will kick off the year with the release of the Ascended Heroes set, which will feature new Mega Evolutions for everyone Pokemon Legends: ZA Starter Pokemon.
