The strongest rock pokemon in pokemon legends: ZA

Rock-type Pokemon may not be the most abundant in Pokemon Legends: ZA, but there are still some incredibly powerful Rock-types to choose from once you've gone through the Mega Dimension DLC. Whether you're limited to just the best pseudo-legendary Pokemon, or don't mind dipping into a pool of powerful legendary options, you'll find what you're looking for here.

Some of the strongest rock-type Pokemon require you to jump through hoops or wait until you're far into the postgame to get to them, but there are also options right from the start.

Rock Pokemon from the base game are included, but the context of the Mega Dimension DLC Rogue Mega Battles is used to determine the most viable options.

Kleavour stands out as one of the best pure offensive Rock options available, despite his subpar special defense that leaves him vulnerable to many enemies. However, if Kleavor is deployed against physical attackers who fail to exploit one of this Pokemon's three weaknesses, it can survive long enough to sweep teams, or at least disrupt enemy options.

Mega Dimension ice types offer huge upgrades.

Aside from his weaknesses, Kleavour's worst trait is his lack of resistances or immunities to compensate for his lackluster defensive stats, with only two resistances to Normal and Fighting moves. However, Fighting is usually a big weakness for Rock-type Pokemon, so turning it into a Resist is good enough to earn Kleavour a spot among the best Rock-type options in the Mega Dimension DLC.

Although Garganacl has the same base stat (BST) as Kleavor, he boasts a much better distribution of his stats at the cost of special attack and speed. However, since Garganacl doesn't really need these stats to function, he gets a huge advantage in his defensive abilities and even boasts a very solid 100 in Attack to use powerful Rock moves like Stone Edge.

Unfortunately, as a pure rock type, Garganacl is weak against five types: Water, Grass, Fighting, Earth, and Steel. On the other hand, this Pokémon benefits from its five resistances to Normal, Fire, Flying, Ghost, and Poison types, allowing it to shine when placed in situations where it won't be afraid of being hit by super-effective moves.

Garganacl suffers from a lack of ZA abilities, or he could have climbed much higher among the best rock-type pokemon.

Tyrantrum offers a more specialized Rock-type attack option thanks to its powerful 121 Attack stat, which allows this Pokemon to one-hit-KO many vulnerable opponents such as Charizard and other flying types. While you'll need to keep this Pokemon away from special attackers like Gardevoir, Tyrantrum can easily destroy its opponents with its raw power and solid movement.

Giga Impact, Head Smash, Earthquake, and Outrage are powerful moves that use Tyrantrum's attack stats and provide plenty of firepower to take on weakened enemies if you want to use Tyrantrum as a switch. Avoid using this Pokemon as your tank and most of its vulnerabilities will go unnoticed.

Aerodactyl's BST isn't much to write home about in terms of its base form, but this Pokemon's Mega Evolution offers a massive upgrade. 135 Attack and 150 speed are the highlights of Mega Aerodactyl's upgraded BST and are a deadly combination for sweeping enemies in a flash.

Both of its defenses get a solid boost to help keep Aerodactyl alive, but you'll be best served using this Pokemon against flying and Bug enemies, as they usually don't have an answer to keep this Pokemon in check. Even in dangerous situations, you may be able to unleash two attacks on each of your enemies, giving the Aerodactyl a distinct advantage as a quick-strike KO machine.

Terrakion returns in the Mega Dimension DLC with a solid BST that makes him useful against most competition as long as you don't mind working on his seven weaknesses. Terrakion's access to powerful moves like Stone Edge, Close Combat, and Head Smash makes it a viable attack option for everyday use, though it may not be the best choice for Rogue Mega Battles.

This Pokemon's moves and solid BST are great, but perhaps the biggest criticism of Terrakion is when it becomes available later in the postgame DLC. Unfortunately, by the time you get Terrakion, it probably won't be much more than a trophy, as it's very likely that you'll have added one of the best rock-type Pokemon in the DLC to your team before you find this legendary sword.

Glimmora got a big boost in the Mega Dimension DLC with a new Mega Evolution that boosts her BST to much more impressive levels. 150 Special Attack is the pinnacle of this Pokemon's Mega form, but the fourfold weakness to Ground-type attacks limits Glimmora's usefulness as a generalist.

However, Glimmora shines as a specialist, especially against Fairy- and Fire-type Pokémon, as his moves can hit both types for super damage while resisting their attacks. It might not be the best Mega Evolution you can find among Rock-type Pokemon, but Glimmora is still a solid case as one of the best new options you can find when you're out and about in Hyperspace Lumiose.

As a pseudo-legendary Pokemon, Tyranitar is already strong in its base form, but this Pokemon's Mega Evolution takes it to a new level, even though it is one of the oldest Mega forms at the moment. After Mega Evolving, Tyranitar's Attack explodes to 164, while its Defense jumps to 150 and 120, making for an incredibly well-rounded Pokemon that can decimate enemies.

The only major downside to this extremely powerful Pokémon is its fourfold weakness to Fighting-type moves, not to mention its weakness to six other prominent types. Tyranitar's best defense against its vulnerabilities is its attack power, which can allow it to flatten most opponents in a flash.

Diancie is an incredibly powerful addition to the best Rock-type Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: ZA, and its Mega Evolution only makes it stronger. Diancie boasts a 160 in both attack stats, allowing her to use a wide range of moves, including some powerful coverage options.

Most of Diancia's damage potential comes from Diamond Storm and Moonblast, the former of which has a chance to increase her defense by two phases. Diancia's key vulnerability is a quadruple weakness to Steel-type moves, but thankfully she only fears three other types, while boasting five resistances and complete immunity to Dragon-type attacks.

The main character stands next to Staraptor in Pokemon Legends: ZA.
