Summary
-
The CD Red considered the mechanic in the witch 3, where Geralt would drown if he was swimming with all his armor.
-
This would require players to constantly manage inventory while swimming.
-
I'd rather shoot on drowners with a terrible crossbow.
Water levels are perhaps what connects the whole game community, in the sense that everyone hates them. While swimming is fine when it comes to achieving a specific place, establishing a level or task around swimming makes every player crush his teeth. While the witch 3 does not really bring us into the water, there is a lot of prey below.

At the age of ten, Witcher 3 is still one of the only games that makes me feel guilty
Small decisions from Witcher 3 continue to resonate for ten years.
Fortunately, Geralt can hold his breath for a while, but he is forced to use terrible crossbows to solve the unpleasant running and harpys. With a lot of prey at the bottom of the sea, players were forced to dive quite a lot. However, the CD project Red was originally planned to be annoying the process.
Geralt earlier had tired armor and weapons to swim
“During development, we played with the idea of a mechanic where Geralt would drown if he entered the water fully focused,” said the recent tweet for the wizard, and dropped this nugget to the anniversary of the witch 3.
Sure, it would be more absorbing, but since the system eventually proved, it would be unpleasant after the first few years. Try to remember how many swords and tingling you had in your inventory at any point in the game; Now imagine that they do not suit the ones you have, dive into the water, go out and search your inventory for the right ones to recall. Perhaps only those who have experienced the Tedium of the Water Temple in Ocarina will understand it.
What we finally got to the witch 3 is by no means perfect, but at least it is better than browsing the menu every time Geralt wants to dive. Imagine trying to bypass Skellige if this feature has reached the final game. This would cause Geralt to hate swimming more than portals.
