So many Dispatch players are randomly getting the worst ending in the game that AdHoc had to confirm that it's not a glitch and there's more to it than just choosing the right dialogue options.
Earlier this week, Dispatch released the final two episodes of the game's first season, which wrap up a story that's been building for the past month and a bit. Surprisingly, Dispatch has some wildly different endings depending on the choices you make, but there's one outcome that stings far more than the rest.
Spoiler alert that one of the Dispatch endings will follow.
The worst ending in Dispatch sees Robert fail the Invisigal as a mentor and her “hugging villain” instead of remaining a hero. You might think it's easy to avoid if you just support her, but that's not entirely true. In fact, so many Dispatch players end up on the wrong end that AdHoc reminded us all that there is much more to consider.
If you want a good end to the expedition, you will have to pay attention to the shifts
Invisigal's fate is shaped by your dispatching skills
Over on the Dispatch subreddit, players have spent the last few days in shock after somehow getting the worst ending despite being kind to Invisigal. The general assumption was that the ending was buggy, but as a post by Redditor Head-Astronaut5836 proves, it's not at all.
A developer on Dispatch under the name POLLY on the game's official Discord responded to a comment about eavesdropping on the bad ending and confirmed that this is not the case. According to them, success or failure as an Invisigal mentor is not only tied to “the choices you make as Robert”, as it is also influenced by shifts in the control room.
POLLY didn't reveal exactly what needs to be done to succeed as Invisigal's mentor, but suggested that players who keep getting the bad ending should replay their shift in the control room and try to change things up. From the sounds of it, you need to regularly cast Invisigal and level her up to make sure she ends up going the path of good instead of taking Shroud's mask at the end.
It's unclear how level Invisigal needs to be to get a good ending, but if you want to make sure she doesn't end up as a villain, it sounds like you'll need to put some time and effort into leveling her up. While it may sound like a lot of work, it's worth it because I'd say it's the best result of the game.
