The ZA update finally checks off a big item on fans' wish lists

Pokemon Legends: ZA it may not receive new content in the form of additional DLC after Mega Dimension, but support for the game continues, both with regular updates and new ranked battle rewards. For example, players can get a Mega Stone for Sceptile in Season 5, but starting next week there will be new rewards for Season 6, including Mega Swampert. Still, if you're still playing Pokemon Legends: ZA and you're not done with all the content from the Mega Dimension DLC, rest assured that the latest software update finally has you covered, addressing a common complaint among fans.

While one of the most important updates for the game fixed Pokemon Legends: ZABy glossing over hunting methods by removing the ability to “overclock” spawner locations, giving future patches a sense of potential risk, each update has always had gameplay improvements at heart. Now, with patch 2.0.1, the game is finally free of the problem that has plagued it since launch – the cap on the Mega Shards you can collect. This was a problem when the game came out, and with DLC it became even more problematic for several reasons:

  • Pokemon Legends: ZAMega Shards are required to purchase Mega Stones from Quasartico Inc. throughout the story, with Mega Stones unlocked gradually as you progress through the campaign. However, the price ranges from 180 to 360 Mega Shards, meaning you could never buy three or more of the more expensive ones due to the 999 Mega Shards limit.
  • Pokemon Legends: ZAThe TM NPC in the DLC sells a lot of new TMs for Mega Shards ranging in price from 360 to 540, making it very difficult to purchase multiple TMs, both due to the Mega Shards limit and the fact that you could only get two at a time, regardless of the price.
  • To get the Genesect inside Pokemon Legends: ZAyou must buy all four disks from the same NPC, each costing 540 Mega Shards. With the 999 cap, you could never buy two discs at the same time.

  • This NPC also sells feathers for various stats Pokemon Legends: ZAand cost 60 Mega Shards each. Since one feather will mostly be useless since you'll need an even number to boost the Pokemon's stats, you'll usually need 120 for two feathers, if not multiples of that number.

Want to catch them all? Here's how to find all Legendary and Mythical Pokémon in Legends: ZA

Pokemon Legends: ZA Mega Dimension DLC brings back several Legendary and Mythical Pokemon, and here's how to catch them all.

Pokemon Legends: ZA is finally raising the Mega Shards cap to 9,999

Today, with the release of patch 2.0.1, Pokemon Legends: ZA increased the limit on Mega Shards from 999 to 9,999, meaning you can now easily stack this currency when playing multiple instances of Hyperspace Wild Areas. This is actually an incredible quality of life improvement as you can easily accumulate hundreds of Mega Shards, so with the previous cap you would have to go back and forth to Quasartico Inc. or NPCs nearby Pokemon Legends: ZA's Wild Zone 17 to exchange for Mega Stones, TMs, Genesect's Drives or Feathers.

This is also a fantastic change for potential new play options or even for new players as it will make collecting all the Mega Shards you need much less of a chore considering they can be collected for much longer before you go to the dealer without having to worry about hitting the unwanted 999 cap. Even if you beat Pokemon Legends: ZA already in full, DLC included, even if you've gotten all the TMs and caught a Genesect, Feathers will always be a great choice to optimize your pets' EVs over the more expensive Vitamins in Pokemon Centers.

Why the new Mega Shard cap from Pokemon Legends: ZA is good even if you've beaten the game

Shiny Carvanha in Pokemon Legends ZA

Since a hyperspace wild area can yield around 200 mega shards if small, medium and large will always yield much more currency, allowing you to accumulate as much as you want and then convert it all into feathers or any other item you want. The Mega Shards cap increase was something that fans requested soon after the game came out, and while it may be too late for everyone who finished the game, there are still some benefits. For example, to train some of the best Pokemon Legends: ZA teams will take time and you'll need lots of lids, menthols and vitamins or feathers – even if you've already done everything else.
