Red Dead Redemption 2The open world is probably one of the most spectacular in gaming, but the truth is that there is so little players can explore. Red Dead Redemption 2's Mexico can't be explored without mods, bugs or glitches, while Guarma is as close to Tahiti as Dutch. Meanwhile, Guarma is stuck in her story and fans really only get a taste of her.
Many players want more Guarmy, and rightfully so. It is a remarkable location in Red Dead Redemption 2and it is likely that it was even a testing ground for tropical environments GTA 6. But now players are exploring Guarma as a whole with little to no friction, thanks to a trick so simple it can be done on consoles, too. So PC gamers are not the only ones who got this win.
How to freely explore Guarma in Red Dead 2
The trick is simple enough. Players just need to get to Guarma Red Dead Redemption 2's main story, and while they're at it, they should keep that distinct exception to Guarma. Any other game can go to a different save file. In Guarma, players must fight their way through the mission “A Kind and Benevolent Despot” – this is the one where the Van der Linde gang rescues Javier. During this mission, Dutch and Arthur attempt a little sabotage when Dutch asks Arthur to wait outside. If players are just exiting a building, they can jump over a nearby rock to exit the mission area.
As Reddit user 22ARuncornAvenue discovered, players won't get autofail here. After that, players can explore as much Guarma as they want without failing a mission or getting shot. And there are plenty of things to see and do that aren't normally available on Guarma, with players even able to exploit the glitch to get back to it. Red Dead Redemption 2main map. Have fun!
While this is simple and easy, it's worth noting that it shouldn't be technically possible. As such, the game can behave strangely.
Why you should return to Guarma Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2025/2026
Red Dead 2 is undoubtedly a popular game, but many players may wonder why it is worth doing in the last month of 2025 or going into 2026. The answer is simple: GTA 6. GTA 6 it will either come out in 2026 or be delayed again, but it has a lot to offer. One is the Vice City/Leonida/Florida setting, with Florida itself being a tropical and swampy location. There is a lot of detail GTA 6 he must be right, and Guarma is pretty clearly (albeit speculatively) Rockstar's little testing ground.
There is a long-standing fan theory that Guarma was a test for Rockstar's engine, even earlier GTA 6 was in full development to test the engine's capabilities for tropical settings. With an interesting jungle environment, strong water physics and highly detailed foliage, the fact remains that Guarma is too short to invest all that for no reason. Instead, Guarma may exist for narrative reasons (aka Holland's grand plans), but also to serve as a technical test for future content. That was never confirmed, but come on, check it out GTA 6's graphics and take into account Rockstar's penchant for attention to detail.
Regardless, fans have been engrossed in Guarmy's mystery ever since Red Dead 2launch. And if anyone hasn't explored it through other means, it's an easy way for anyone to test the limits of RDR2.
