Now that the animated arc of Infinity Castle is, Demon Fans have to be irrelevant because of some great deaths of character. As many could expect, not every Hashira survives the battle against Muzan. And while the author, Koyohara Gotuge, somehow can make readers cry over each individual death, one particular loss excels as the most detentive.
Although this does not mean that other deaths were not emotionally affecting, some were undeniably more tragic than others. And as far as Hashir is concerned, no death was as heartbreaking as Mitsuri Kanroji.

Although it is not competition and every death of Hashira was significant, Mitsuri's death was uniquely devastating. Unlike the others who have passed the closure, Mitsuri's last moments were marked by unfulfilled dreams and a desire for the future she would never see.

Although she learned to be proud of her immense power, she longed for the life of heat and society. It is tragically, her last moments were spent in the arms of Obanai Iguro, the man she loved, and could not hold him back because of her interrupted weapons.

Her last request was a heartbreaking simple – she asked Obanai if she could be his bride in their next life. Unlike other hashira, which could find meaning in its death, Mitsuri's story ended with unfulfilled dreams, so her loss was particularly painful.
Mitsuri's Death: The Last Battle
During the top battle against Muzan, Mitsuri fought bravely despite stunning chances. Her body, resistant, as it was, could not resist tireless onslaught. Even in her last moments she fought to protect those she loved.
Strongly injured collapsed in the arms of Obanai Iguro. When the battle ended, Mitsuri found that he knew the music was defeated. Yet the knowledge that she would never experience a peaceful future with Obanai has caused it to go through all the more painful.

Obanai, devastated and now blinded from the battle, adhered Mitsuri's broken body. He sobbed desperately and his tears soaked her pale face. He couldn't save her and consumed helplessness. In one of the most emotional moments of the series, after Mitsuri spoke her last words, Obanai, despite the harsh weight of his grief, she smiled with his tears and promised to meet again.
And this time I will make you happy and protect you not to die.
A moment later he also succumbed to his injuries and held her inanimate body when the darkness consumed it.
Mitsuri and Obanai get an unexpected happy ending
United in reincarnation
Although Mitsuri's story ended in tragedy, Gotouge offered fans of the bittersweet solution in the epilogue of the manga. Mitsuri and Obanai, reincarnated in a quiet world, were born again as a loving couple and enjoyed the simple joy of life together.
Their reincarnated forms were presented in chapter 205 mangoes, where they operated a busy restaurant surrounded by heat and laughter. While the pain of their death persisted because they knew they found happiness in another life, it brought a feeling of closure.
