Every Dragon Ball series, rated by animation quality
Dragon Ball's animation quality tends to vary from series to series, with some boasting much higher production values than others.
Dragon Ball Super has faced many problems in the past
-
Poor animation caused by a rushed production schedule
-
Major pacing issues in the first few arcs
Dragon Ball Super was far from a perfect product when it was first revealed to fans. The foundation of Dragon Ball Super was the movie Battle of Gods, which was soon followed by Resurrection F. After that, it was decided that the story would continue with the help of Toriyama and the care of the great anime staff.
While the story department of things was certainly acceptable, the fact is that the anime itself suffered from many problems on the production side. In fact, when Dragon Ball Super started, production issues started showing up right after the first few episodes of the animeand some of the biggest names in the entire industry had to come in to try and save the disaster that had happened.
People like Naoki Tate along with many other animators tried to do their best to deliver an acceptable product in the limited time they were given. In fact, it's actually a miracle that the original Dragon Ball Super 1 looks as good as it does. The production schedule for this anime was a train wreck from the very beginning and it all caught up in the end. It got to the point where the anime just couldn't go on any longer.
By the time of the Tournament of Power where Tatsuya Nagamine entered, Dragon Ball Super was a much more refined product and fans could see that it had stabilized quite a bit. Even then, it simply wasn't sustainable to provide the level of action she provided week after week on a regular basis. That's part of the reason why Dragon Ball Super finally went on hiatus. Of course, there were other factors that revolved around the continuation of the original story in manga form.
The new super anime Dragon Ball will fix the biggest problems of the series
-
A series with better animation and pacing
The new Dragon Ball Super anime set to start later this year will officially fix all the major issues with the original series.. The fact is that the original anime was marred by poor animation in the early parts and a terrible schedule for those who worked on it. The remastered version of Dragon Ball Super, which fans have already seen a trailer for, apparently looks much brighter. Fans are well aware that scenes have been reworked and most of the cuts have been adjusted to look more fluid and consistent. whole The photography team seems to have done much better in terms of compositionwho turned even this average-looking production into a visual spectacle.
Of course, there's still not much that could change with the upcoming remastered project, since everything has already been animated and the most they can do is improve the mediocre scenes. However, there is more to this new project than just that.
Pacing will be better than ever
One of the biggest problems Dragon Ball Super it was a terrible pace he was suffering from. Arcs like Battle of Gods and Resurrection F took too long in the original series, and even the arcs that followed weren't paced properly. The adaptation certainly had quite a few scenes that could have been much shorterand this in turn would increase the overall quality of the series.
Dragon Ball Super Anime Remake Officially Revealed for Fall 2026
A new Dragon Ball supermake will be released in the fall of 2026, starting with a fresh adaptation of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.
The new remastered Dragon Ball Super anime will fix all that, just like One Piece did with its Fishman Island Remaster last year.. It goes without saying that this Dragon Ball Remaster project is a bit more ambitious than One Piece's Fishman Island, but it will follow in the same vein.
A new team will take over once the Galactic Patrol arc begins
-
Dragon Ball Super will really shine in the Galactic Patrol Arc
-
The new production team will increase the quality
When fixing what has already been animated Dragon Ball Super is great, that's something to keep in mind the real changes start to show when the Galactic Patrol arc finally begins in the anime. This is where the production really shines and fans finally get to see what Toei Animation is actually up to with Dragon Ball Super.
The Galactic Patrol arc will air sometime in late 2027at the latest. As such, the studio has an enormous amount of time to prepare for this, and if work on this project has already begun, then you can be sure that they will receive the highest level of anime adaptation possible.
quite clearly will be a brand new crew taking over Dragon Ball Super from the Galactic Patrol arc. Either Naohiro Shintani or Chikashi Kubota will likely take control of the character sheetsand as for the director of the series, fans will also see new but familiar faces.
The Dragon Ball staff has always been full of incredibly talented animators such as Naoki Tate, Ryo Onishi, Yuya Takahashi, Yuiichi Karasawa, Naotoshi Shida, Takeo Ide, Masahiro Shimanuki and many more. These people will be given the tools needed to shine in the new series. Once the Galactic Patrol arc begins, Dragon Ball really gets a modern anime seriesand it will be something fans have never seen before. Of course, this new arc is still over a year away, but that doesn't stop fans from getting excited about the future of their beloved series.
