Top 5 Strongest Characters Weaker Than Gohan Ranked

Gohan is back as one of the strongest characters Dragon Ball after I fell pretty hard Cool. Since its debut in FROM, Gohan was defined by his high potential but lack of passion when it came to fighting. This trait has led to Gohan being constantly passed over by the likes of Goku and Vegeta, often relegating a character that fans know can be one of the series' strongest to a supporting role.

But with his new Beast transformation, Gohan is back in the mix as one of the best fighters in the series. While we eagerly await new Dragon Ball stories from the manga, let's take a look at some of the series' strongest characters who are still weaker than Gohan at the end of the day.

Super Saiyan Goku, Super Saiyan Gohan and Perfect Cell

Dragon Ball Z: Goku Giving Senzu Bean a cell was secretly a genius

Goku giving Cell the Senzu Bean has a lot more depth and nuance than meets the eye. Goku's entire plan for Gohan to defeat Cell hinges on Senzu.

Orange piccolo

Super Hero was definitely Gohan's time to shine, but you can't overlook Piccolo's role and his own accomplishments throughout the film. Piccolo was the reason his former student found himself out of the ruts he was in, and he recaptured the potential that makes him Universe 7's strongest fighter. He also got his own moments that proved he still had a lot in the tank with his new Orange Piccolo form.

The transformation instantly puts him up there as one of Universe 7's strongest fighters. While he isn't strong enough to beat Cell Max, Piccolo is once again a truly relevant fighter, able to once again stand on par with Goku and Vegeta, though we'll have to see more of him to know how much the gap has closed.

Granola

Dragon Ball - Granolah Introduction

Granolah was one of the most interesting additions to Super. Although he was only present during the Granolah the Survivor Saga manga, he impressed fans with his solid story and incredible trajectory. A veteran bounty hunter, Granolah was not a character that would normally be in the same conversation as characters like Gohan, Goku, or Vegeta. But the wish made him the strongest in the universe for a while and allowed him to take on UI Goku and UE Vegeta.

This won't last long though, and Granolah will soon be replaced by Gas. Still, there was a time when Granolah was much stronger than Gohan. Since the events of Super Hero take place after Granolah the Survivor Saga, Gohan has long surpassed Granolah, if he's even still alive.

Gas

Gas

Even before his brother wished to make him the strongest mortal in Universe 7, Gas was still a threat. Gas, the muscle of the Heeter family and by far the strongest of the bunch, served as a great antagonist during Granolah the Survivor Saga, pushing Granolah as well as UI Goku and UE Vegeta to their limits.

We saw how strong Gas became after the wish when he managed to stand up to Goku and Vegeta while the Saiyans gave it their all. However, even at his strongest, Gas is nowhere near Gohan's strength when he unlocked the Beast. Regardless, we'll never see a match between the two, but if Gas hadn't deteriorated and been finished off by Black Frieza, he probably wouldn't still be compared to Gohan as he is now.

Max

Cell Max could have been much stronger than what we saw Super herobut even if he didn't reach his full potential, the Bio-Android was one of the most terrifying and destructive Super villains. Although it lacked the impact of the original and remained in semi-perfect form, Cell Max proved to be quite a challenge. Even Piccolo with his powerful new transformation couldn't really match him.

Although Cell Max was able to withstand the onslaught of attacks from Gohan, Piccolo, Trunks, Goten, Krillin, Android 18, and Gammas, once Gohan reached his Beast form, he was quickly overpowered. With Piccolo holding the massive berserker in place, Gohan Beast was able to fully charge his own version of the special beam cannon, delivering a devastating blow to Cell Max and taking down an enemy both Gohan and Piccolo weren't sure Goku and Vegeta could defeat.

Broly

Out of everyone on this list, Broly has the most potential. The legendary Super Saiyan was introduced as a raw but talented fighter who showed an extraordinary ability to adapt to those far more powerful than him as they fight, growing and learning as things evolve to a degree never seen before in the series.

Valnet - Crunchyroll Ad Preview

Broly is the character mentioned here who would totally give Gohan a run for his money as he currently is. We've seen Broly reach some of the highest heights in the series in a short amount of time, take on Goku and Vegeta, and even put up a decent fight against Gogeta before being overpowered in the end. It's likely we'll see Gohan and Broly grow further when the series returns, so expect the two Saiyans to remain among the series' strongest for now.
