Shinedust has no effect on gameplay, so you'll likely accumulate a significant amount before you even notice. But as your collection grows, you'll soon find it a valuable resource for adding new cosmetic effects to your favorite cards. Here's what it is, how to get it, and how to use it to upgrade your favorite Pokemon.
What is Shinedust?
Shinedust is a resource that you will slowly accumulate as your collection growswhich you can use to improve your cards. When you first start the game, you won't earn much Shinedust apart from completing missions, but as your collection grows, you'll earn more and more.
How to get Shinedust
You'll soon get most of your Shinedust from completing missions and achievements, but the main way to get more is to get duplicate cards already in your collection.
Every time you open (or buy) another copy of a card you already own, you'll also get a little Shinedust. It's not much, but it means you'll get some value from the other six copies of Spearow you opened I'm looking for a former Moltres.
You can get extra Shinedust by buying extra copies of trainer promo cards in the store, but this is a bad use of your store ticketswhich can also be used to purchase Hourglasses.
How to use Shinedust
Shinedust can be used give your Pokemon a twist. This flair is similar to the stickers and ball capsules from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl in that they both create a cosmetic effect when the Pokémon they are applied to enters the game.
Once you have enough copies of the card, you can trade one to three copies of it along with some Shinedust to get the Sparkles: Gold flavorwhich you can then apply to one of the remaining copies of the card.
When you exchange cards and Shinedust for flair, you must have two copies of the card. Pokemon TCG Pocket does not allow you to go under the game set by creating a flair.
Once you unlock the Sparkles: Gold flair for the card, other, more expensive flairs will become available. Which flairs are available depends on the card: some Fire-type Pokemon get the Flames: Orange flavor, while some Water-type Pokemon get the Ripples: Light Blue vibe.
The higher the rarity of the card, the more Shinedust you need create a taste. However, the number of copies of this card is decreasing.
Flair costs
The cost of the flair varies based on the card's rarity and what other traits you already own for that card. The cost of flair can be determined using the following table:
