Dawnwalker blood will be the debut game from Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by former developers CD Projekt Red. As expected, this led to numerous comparisons between the two Dawnwalker blood and especially the previous CDPR games The Witcher 3. Rebel Wolves would seem to welcome such comparisons to some extent, as they are quite transparent Blood of Dawnwalkergraduates of CDPR.
It's not just the family tree that connects Blood of Dawnwalker and The Witcher 3. Dawnwalker is a third-person action-adventure RPG set in a medieval fantasy setting, designed around structured quests, NPC interaction, and sword and magic combat. Even the music, art design, and user interface (based on public, pre-alpha footage) are reminiscent The Witcher 3. But make no mistake, Blood of Dawnwalker he's not just trying to ride your hair Charmerit doesn't even seem to emulate the basic design of this seminal RPG. Really, Blood of Dawnwalker It promises to be completely unique and introduce new ideas through both gameplay and storytelling.
Blood of Dawnwalker Story Explained
One of the most striking differences between The Blood of Dawnwalker and Charmeror most high fantasy franchises for that matter is its setting. Dawnwalker takes place not in a fictional country or a theoretical civilization, but in the real Europe of the 14th century, in an area called Vale Sangora, which has been taken over by vampires intent on subjugating humanity. Led by one named Brencis, these vampires exact a blood tax on the population of Vale Sangora, much to the displeasure of the people.
Vale Sangora itself is fictional, but is supposed to be set in the very real Carpathian Mountains, which would place it somewhere in Eastern or Southern Europe. It is worth noting that a lot DawnwalkerFolklore, naming conventions and traditions seem to be inspired by Romanian culture.
Players take on the role of Coen, a peasant suffering from silver poisoning. IN Blood of Dawnwalker In the film's reveal trailer, Coen is shown on the run from the local government, who are destroying villages in search of bubonic plague patients, whom they will execute on sight. Coen's sister Lunka has the plague and the siblings are caught mid-flight. However, before Lunka is killed, a group of vampires led by Brencis intervenes and brutally dispatches the would-be executioners. Brencis subsequently cures Lunka of her illness.
But this is no act of altruism: Brencis uses this kindness as leverage against Coen, taking his family hostage. Brencis and his crew also attempt to turn Coen into a vampire, but the transformation fails and he becomes a Dawnwalker, a rare being that is human during the day and vampire after dark. Although the circumstances are unclear at this point, Coen is given 30 days to save his family from Brencis' ruling class of vampires.
It is possible that Coen's silver poisoning caused his Dawnwalker transformation, although this has not been confirmed.
Is Blood of Dawnwalker a choice based game?
When it comes to broad-stroke design pillars such as an open world with NPCs, quest and mini-quest progression structure, dialogue options, and non-linear storytelling, comparing Blood of Dawnwalker on Charmer is quite apt. But DawnwalkerThe aforementioned premise of the narrative shakes things up.
Dawnwalker blood it will have a day-night cycle and adhere to Coen's unique Dawnwalker curse. As one might expect, Coen's abilities and limitations depend on his form at the time, and this can have both narrative and mechanical effects. In one Blood of Dawnwalker In the gameplay demo, the human Coen is able to enter the cathedral without issue, talk to the priest and deacon, and continue on the quest path. He later finds a corpse and is able to revive it with magic, an ability he wouldn't have access to if he was in vampire form.
But this search can be approached in a completely different way when Coen is a vampire. He can easily climb buildings at night, allowing him to gain access to the catwalk of the cathedral, which provides a vantage point for a secret vampiric ritual. Sneaking around the upper floor of the cathedral at night, Coen and the player gain a unique perspective on the vampiric opposition and eventually even get to fight one of Brencis' primary allies, an undertaking that Rebel Wolves describes as “possible but hellishly difficult.”
This “narrative sandbox,” as Rebel Wolves calls it, is driven by Coen's vampire-human duality, but that's not the only variable. Blood of DawnwalkerThe story can be affected by a number of factors, including NPC relationships, dialogue choices, and progress in other quests. All in all, The Blood of DawnwalkerThe choice-based sandbox seems to be its most ambitious, influencing the world, story and mechanical aspects.
Blood of Dawnwalker's main quest has a time limit, although time is described as a resource rather than a “ticking clock” that expires after completing certain tasks such as Persona games.

When parried, the enemy's stamina is reduced, which can culminate in a powerful stun. Like An axeThis combat system gives the defense an offensive advantage.
As in the narrative sandbox, the fight will be defined by Coen's current form. When human, he will have access to special hexes and spells; when he is a vampire he will grow claws and have increased agility. Swords can still be used when Coen is in vampire form.
Coen's Vampiric Traversal
In vampire form, Coen will have access to unique movement options. For example, he can use a skill called Shadow Step, which allows him to teleport to a location within range, and Plane Shift, which allows him to walk on walls and across ceilings.
