Elden Ring Nightreign Class Abilities
Although FromSoftware has yet to officially list the scholar's abilities, Elden Ring Nightreign: The Forsaken HollowsThe latest character trailer shows the new Nightfarer in action, giving us plenty of room to speculate:
- Maybe some knowledge of weapons: Thrust (cane sword)
- Maybe a passive ability: Throwing effects can trigger twice
- Maybe an active ability: Debuff that slows enemies
- A possible ultimate ability: Hostile link
Elden Ring Nightreign's Scholar character trailer opens with the Nightfarer wielding a reed sword against the Soldier of Godrick. This reed sword looks a little different than the one you find in Elden Ring's base game as it has a silver handle and appears to use a striking set of attacks rather than the straight sword based move set that a reed sword usually has. It also looks like this reed sword might have a dodge mechanic built in, with the Scholar dodging two of the soldier's swings by stepping back.
After a few shots of the Scholar enjoying a well-deserved rest in the Hold at the Round Table, the trailer gives fans a look at what appears to be the Scholar's active ability. A white circle appears in front of the Scholar's field of vision, and the four enemies visible inside the circle are marked by a dark cloud of smoke coming from their bodies. It appears to be a type of debuff that potentially slows down enemies.
To eliminate a group of enemies, the Scholar lobs what appears to be a throwable Lightning Pot that explodes twice, possibly hinting at the new Nightfarer's passive ability. The final shots of the trailer show the Scholar engaged in a fierce battle with the Nightlord Libra and his small army of summoned clones. Here, Scholar uses his ultimate, which seemingly binds enemies together so that any damage taken by one is shared between all of them. It also looks like the Scholar's allies are linked during this final window, though it's unclear how this will affect the team.
How Elden Ringo Nightreign's scholarship class could shake up the team dynamic
Of all of them Elden Ring NightreignOf the eight Nightfarer classes, none can be considered true “support”. The Recluse can use magic and the Revenant can rely on summons, but both put damaging enemies at the forefront of their playstyles, just like any other Nightfarer. On the other hand, The Forsaken Hollows' Scholar seems to have a skill set built around helping their teammates, whether it's slowing down enemies in front of an ally or linking up enemies so the squad can take them down faster.
Best Elden Ring Nightreign Scholar Teams
Of course, we won't know who works well with Scholar until Elden Ring Nightreign's DLC comes out next week, but there are some Nightfarer combos that already seem like a match made in heaven. Nightreign's Ironeye is always an essential member of the team, and their ranged attacks will no doubt work well with Scholar's ultimate connecting with enemies, as well as Wylder's ability to close in on an enemy and destroy them quickly.
