Defeat the Elite Four Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen it may seem like the end of your journey as you progress through gym boss battles, but it's really just the beginning. Once you beat the Elite Four, a whole new world of available Pokemon opens up to you with the National Dex, including plenty of powerful Legendary and Mythical Pokemon.
One such legendary is Mewtwo, which you can catch in Cerulean Cave after defeating the Elite Four. However, after the Elite Four, you need to do a few small things to open the way to Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave.
How to unlock the azure cave
To begin your long journey to find Mewtwo, you must first beat the elite four and have at least 60 Pokemon registered in your Pokedex.
After you restart the game Oak will give you National Dex which will help you continue your adventure and catch more types of Pokemon.
If you open the key items pocket, you will also notice that you have Aurora ticket in a bag that allows you to reach Birth Island and catch deoxys, as well as Mystic Ticket, which unlocks Navel Rock – home Ho-Oh and Lugia.
To get started, go back to Island One of the islands of Sevii, where you will be asked to do a quest after the game celia, who asks you to find a jewel.
To power the machine it gives you access to Navel Rock and Birth Island, you will need to find a Ruby, which is located in Mount Ember.
On One Island, follow the path east, then north up Kindle Road.
Fight your way through north past Ember Spa and cross the water reach Mt. Ember, which is currently occupied Team racket.
Moltres can be found here if you missed it when Bill introduced you to the Sevii Islands during the story.
How to get Ruby
The two of you Rocket grunt finally did a way in the mountain on the right. Access when they notice you're listening and prepare to battle them both.
Defeat both of these grunt and enter their newly carved cave way into Mt. Ember.
Follow the linear path until you reach the first one Power boulder puzzle.

Move it first boulder until it is wedged between two rocks.

Go down and press on south boulder right until he is also wedged between two stones.

Use the newly created path to push the top stone against the north wall, clears the way for you.
Go into the next room and push over the boulder one tile then continue.
at the crossroads go the first way to south and follow it.
Push the boulder out of the way then climb down the ladder into a room with a bunch of weird braille boards.
Go further south and down the ladder and you get to a room with Ruby which Celio wants. Grab Ruby, then go back up and out of the braille room.
You can also use the escape rope to exit this cave and return to Celio.
If you do not have an escape rope, go to the room in front of the braille and back to the northeast.
Other east, you will find out two more boulders.

Press on top rock to the east against the wall.

Press on lower rock to the west against that wall.
- Go south, then follow the path back outside return to Celio.
Now Celio asks you to find a Sapphire go with Ruby.

How to get sapphire
You will now receive Rainbow Pass and access to all seven islands of the Sevii archipelago.
Get out Four island start searching now. On Four Island, you'll have to endure a short scene with your rival outside the Pokemon Center, then you can continue.
Bring a Pokemon that can learn Waterfall; you will need them soon.
Head east from the Pokemon Center, follow the water behind Lorelei's house and you'll find Icefall Cave.
Cross the water within, then follow the entrance further into the next room.
So cross a piece of ice use the left ice path to follow the path to the left, then further up.
Step on break the northernmost glacier twice and fall through the floor.
go up the ladder then step on southernmost glacier twice fall through it as soon as it bursts.
From there you will be on more stable ice. Follow these directions for safe ice navigation:
Grab Full Reset to the left before continuing.
You will now be in front of the next item: Waterfall HM07.
Teach Waterfall Pokemon, then jump over the ledge and down go back to the room with the waterfall.
Go up to the waterfall then down the ladder and into another cave.
Here you will find Lorelei fighting Team Rocket.
Help Lorelei win the fight and then head to Six Island before heading to the Rocket Hideout.
On Six Island, go to east Pokemon Center and follow the path southeast, winding into a maze.
Follow the linear path to door with braille on it.
Use Cut on the door, which opens it. Enter the door to dotted hole, then fall into the hole.
You will find short puzzle with four holes, which will lead you to your destination. Fall into holes the following order:
Once you do that, you'll be va Peace with Sapphire.
Try to gather yourself Sapphire, and a stranger drops and steals it so from you provide a second password you have to get to the rocket warehouse.
Go to Five Island and immediately go straight to the sandy shore to Five Isle Meadow. Continue and defeat several Rocket Grunts on your way to the door to Rocket storage.
How to find a sapphire in a rocket warehouse
Enter your password and you will be in the warehouse and you will face a floor puzzle.
Here's how to do it solve it:
- Go left and get married top arrows.
- Go left again get spun around and defeat the red haired Rocket Grunt.

Behind Grunt, take the left group of arrows to the stopping point.
- Go up and fight Rocket Grunt.

Stand right up to Grunt is on the left, then take the path to the left.

From here, go left and north dodging arrows.
- Watch the north wall to right.

Take it arrows pointing down along the far right wall.
- Decline and beat Grunt.
Go into the room on the right and defeat both Grunt and Admin here before continuing north.
Now you finally can face the thief who stole the Sapphire. Beat him and return with him to Celio.
This will open access to mewtwo's cave officially called Cerulean Cave.
How to find and catch Mewtwo
Head to Cerulean City, then go to the upper left corner of the town where you will see the cave entrance which is now open.
Take Route 24 north of the Nugget Bridge, then the head left and Surf until you reach the cave entrance.
Enter the cave with the strongest Pokémon team you have and prepare for a fight unless you pack a bunch of Max Repels.
The Pokemon here will be between levels 46 and 70.
Get to the bottom of the cave where you can finally face mewtwo at level 70 in the basement.
Bring a team of Snorlax, a position culprit, like Gengar, Dragonite or Golbat, and something he knows Dragon Rage deal controlled damage to Mewtwo.
Lower his HP and either give Mewtwo sleep or paralyze him. After a lot effort and Ultra Balls, Mewtwo will be yours.
If you want a shiny Mewtwo hunt, save right before you meet him, and if Mewtwo doesn't glow, press A, B, X, Y to reset and start over.
