To open the door above the blacksmith, you must complete the Putrid Paradise Myth Nioh 3. It's a side quest set in the Heian era where a warrior is found in a swamp-like area and requires the players' help.

When you're done, go back to the small cave below the blacksmith and find Tatsumar there.

Offer him some dung balls and he'll give you some blacksmith texts as well as a key to unlock the door above the blacksmith. Inside are two chests full of gear.

Putrid Paradise Mythos Guide in Nioh 3

Run the Putrid Paradise Myth in Nioh 3start in Hachijo near Rajomon Shrine: Mibu Avenue and approach the swamp to find Tatsumaro on one of the roofs. He wishes to remove the stench from his body so players can lead him to the hot spring according to the quest marker on the map. While resting, Tatsumaro reveals that his house has an amazing bath nearby, but he can't get to it because there are a lot of yokai. If you agree to help him, he will let you use an amazing bath as a reward.

When Tatsumaro joins up to fight by your side, head to the Lesser Crucible located deep in the swamp and defeat the wave of enemies to finally take it out. Behind the Crucible is a ruined house, with only a rotting bath left. Tatsumaro is upset and refuses. So he enters the bath while telling himself it's heavenly, only to die shortly after, completing the Putrid Paradise quest.

Where to find and use the blackened key in Nioh 3

Once the quest is complete, go to the Eternal Rift and enter the forge. Go to the corner and head down into the basement. If you haven't explored this part yet, destroy the rock with the Guardian Spirit and climb down using the roots. Talk to Tatsumar the Dung Lover and offer him all the dung balls he wants to get some blacksmithing texts and a blackened key.

The blackened key, as mentioned earlier, is used to unlock the gate above the blacksmith. To get dung, try to raise wasps and Gaki chieftains and then offer them to Tatsumar. Some enemies drop dung balls in the swamp area where you first meet Tatsumar.
