Which items should you buy first in the gift shop in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

If you've been desperate for a new way to decorate your spaces in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, then you'll no doubt be excited about the Hotel Resort added in the January 2026 version 3.0 update and the dozens of new pieces of furniture it comes with.

As you gradually help decorate Kapp'n's family resort from the pier on your island, you'll earn hotel tickets to use in the gift shop run by Grandma in the lobby. She sells clothes, trinkets and new furniture pieces, but which of her new hotel-themed pieces are worth getting your tickets for?

Cutlery

If you've ever ordered room service at a hotel or luxury resort before, then you know that it comes with a luxuriously rich menu of extras, in addition to the food, things like condiments, sauces and plates with plenty of cutlery available as a Cutlery item from Grams' gift shop at the Resort Hotel at ACNH to spice up any dining experience.

Whether you're trying to create a dining room at a Resort Hotel or trying to find new things to add to any dining room you've made elsewhere on the island, to get the idea that hungry guests will soon be feasting on the plethora of food recipes you've prepared and displayed before long.

Marble kitchen island

If you're a fan of luxury living and have been trying to get one more taste of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, then update 3.0 for the game is sure to wow with a handful of extra luxury offerings with five items made entirely of marble. And while the wall clock, table, sink, and fireplace are beautiful, it's the Marble Kitchen Island that gets us the most.

This fun party arch is perfect for all kinds of indoor and outdoor celebrations. Add them to any birthday party scene as seamlessly as you can add them to an island beach party or club dance party you've hosted somewhere on the island. Who doesn't love a fun, bright and colorful atmosphere to their space?

Children's car

Depending on when you grew up, you probably recognize these iconic, cute cars designed for toddlers and kids to sit inside and use their legs to run and simulate driving a car, steering with a plastic wheel inside, and a ball that pretends to be a master of the road.

That same fun returns in the ACNH 3.0 update, which brings baby furniture to Grandma's shop once you design a baby-themed room. Go back and place it among your island playgrounds to really bring that nostalgic feeling home to your island. You can even customize the colors to make it even faster!

Flowerpot

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you have plenty of ways to decorate your island with plants and flowers (even before you factor in the massive undertaking that goes into creating every hybrid flower in the game for decorative purposes as well), but the flower pot is a wonderful new item to elevate your green spaces.

Available in many colors for both the vase and the flowers themselves, the planter can be customized in several ways to match any hotel room building where nature plays a role. Flowers can't be changed individually in a vase, but the options we've been given are always nice additions to hotel rooms.

Hotel Aloha Cardigans

We get new outfit options whenever DLC is available, as well as a handful of new additions to your wardrobe since Happy Home Paradise launched a few years after ACNH's debut. It brought you to another island to help create all sorts of homes for the villagers who visited your beach.

However, in the 3.0 update, the Resort Hotel comes with several different clothing patterns, with blues for a winter vibe and oranges for a summer vibe. They're available as shirts or sweaters, but with the update launching in the Northern Hemisphere winter, we're loving all the new cozy options we can get our villagers.

Rolling suitcase

It's not often that people check into a hotel without some sort of luggage, and a more iconic option for travelers is the rolling suitcase, an item added to the furniture catalog in ACNH with update 3.0. Talk to Grandma and cough up some hotel tickets to get an item that will fit seamlessly into whatever type of room theme you're trying to create.

Available in many colors, there won't be a theme Leilani can throw at you that doesn't have room to add one of the Rolling Suitcase items. The only way it would be even more fun is if interacting with it allowed you to actually change clothes instead of just raising and lowering the handle. We can change our clothes using a fridge, but not from an actual suitcase, Nintendo…?

Retro game console

If you're someone who plays Animal Crossing: New Horizons update 3.0 with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, you have access to several additional features, including the ability to use Slumber Islands to create additional islands on one console or even play retro games from the Switch's catalog of titles.
