With just a week to go until the spring 2026 anime season, fans have already started cheering for several new series from Hiromu Arakawa's dark fantasy. Demons of the Shadow Realm to the long-awaited adaptation of the suspenseful manga Liar game. However, as popular as they may be, Wizard's Hat Studio sits atop the current lineupwith audiences eagerly awaiting its debut since the adaptation was first announced in 2022. Kamome Shirahama's fantasy manga series has been a hit since its first series in 2016, and now even more people will fall in love with its whimsical story and cast of characters. The folks at Bug Films have clearly spared no expense in bringing the magic found within its pages to the small screen.
Kicking off with a two-episode premiere on April 6 Wizard's Hat Studio quickly climbed to the top of many viewers' top picks for the season, with the series drawing inspiration from everything Harry Potter and lord of the rings to Studio Ghibli films. It has a fantastical atmosphere that can be difficult to capture, and there's no doubt that fans will be counting down the hours each week until a new episode is available. Fortunately, it won't be long before we see more of Coco and Qifrey.
Spring 2026 Preview: The Wizard's Hat Studio
As the Winter 2026 anime season draws to a close, eager fans are looking forward to spring, and one series in particular is attracting considerable attention.
Coco's Magical Journey has finally begun
Out of tragedy comes the chance to achieve the impossible
After an unfortunate delay pushed the series from 2025, Wizard's Hat Studio is finally here and its first two episodes did not disappoint. The series follows Coco, an energetic and positive young girl and the daughter of a seamstress who dreams of one day being able to use magic. Unfortunately, she is told that those born without this gift will never be able to learn, so she gives up on her dream. That is, until one day a witch named Qifrey shows up at her door looking for the fabric. Soon after, Coco learns the secret of magic in the worst possible way – with her mother petrified. Desperate to bring her back, Coco begs the man to be her teacher, and he obliges, leading her to a new life as a disciple. For those who grew up with Harry Potter and dreamed of one day being told they were witches or wizards, the premise is instantly gratifying.
