World of Warcraft may bring back limited promotional items in patch 12.0.5

World of Warcraft appears to be bringing back several old limited time promotional items from 2024, including the Hateforged Blazecycle mount, via the Trading Post in Patch 12.0.5. Assuming this is the case, World of Warcraft Fans will have another chance to earn items that were otherwise region locked or behind a paywall.

Blizzard is also no stranger to events with external brands. For example, World of Warcraft Players who purchase select Trolli products can receive a Gummi the Glow Wyrm pet. That said, many of these promotions were region locked, limited in stock, or required the purchase of products ranging in price from snacks to gaming peripherals.

World of Warcraft Teases back to the least popular expansion in history

The World of Warcraft: Midnight drops could be a teasing return to one of the most divisive expansion packs in the MMO's long history.

Old promotional items may appear in the WoW trade post in patch 12.0.5

However, it seems World of Warcraft will give players a second chance to get these items in the near future. From a recent build World of Warcraft Patch 12.0.5 PTR, several limited time 2024 promo items have gained Trader's Tender costs, meaning they will appear on the Trading Post soon. This includes Lil' Flameo, obtained by purchasing SteelSeries peripherals, Sand Scarab, old World of Warcraft TCG a reward that became a Twitch Drop, and the coveted Hateforged Blazecycle from the Mountain Dew collaboration.

Assuming these items come to the trade post at the listed prices, they should be relatively affordable. Hateforged Blazecycle mount from WoW x Mountain Dew collab is currently listed at 500 Trader's Tender, while the pets are 250 each and the tabard is only 100.

There is currently no official word on when or if these items will arrive on the trading post. It's possible that they could be spread out over several months and may not arrive until after patch 12.0.5. Even so, Blizzard said that past promo items will eventually make their way to the trading post World of Warcraftand these price lists suggest it may be sooner rather than later. Fans can probably expect more limited items to follow.

This is generally a good thing for World of Warcraft commonwealth. As exciting as limited time promotions can be, they use FOMO to encourage players to spend money and lead to frustration if the promotions are held outside of their region. Scalpers then prey on these players, obtain the codes and sell them at exorbitant costs. World of Warcraft is inundated with promotions right now, so this paradigm shift can at least give fans peace of mind that they'll likely be able to get these items again at some point in the future.
