Xbox has teamed up with Crocs to create game-themed footwear, revealing black clogs that look like recycled Series X controllers. The Xbox Crocs come with game-themed Jibbitz charms and are available for purchase starting today.
Crocs' latest crossover was revealed via a post on Xbox Wire and then in a series of social media posts accompanied by a seemingly endless stream of responses asking if “this is Xbox.” No, Crocs don't fall under the “This Is An Xbox” umbrella because they don't come with Game Pass, nor can you play games on them. However, you can pretend to use them as Xbox controllers.
Introducing Xbox Crocs that look like Xbox controllers
That's because Crocs were designed to look like Xbox controllers. Black and green clogs adorn the joysticks, face buttons, and even the same Xbox button found in the middle of the Series X controller right on the tip. All the buttons and both sticks are in the same positions as you'd find on a controller, so it looks like you dropped yours whenever you look down while wearing them.
No official Crocs collaboration is complete without matching Jibbitz charms. Xbox Crocs comes with five of them pulled from Xbox-published games – Fallout, Doom, Sea of Thieves, Halo and World of Warcraft. An interesting choice for the latter as WoW is not currently available on consoles and remains a PC exclusive. Was Marcus Fenix unavailable?
Thanks to Xbox leaving the exclusivity behind, you can play three – soon four – of those five games on PS5.
Xbox consoles could become more expensive again due to lack of RAM
It could potentially be on the $700 Xbox Series X cards.
Xbox Crocs and their accompanying cross-platform charms are available right now, exclusively on the Crocs website. Xbox Crocs cost $80and pendants can be purchased separately for $20 if you don't like the look of the Series X clogs but want to turn your current Crocs into a video game. Charms are included with Crocs so you don't have to buy them separately and spend $100 unless you really want to I guess.
If the thought of spending $80 on Xbox Crocs doesn't sit well with you, maybe think about it in terms of how much it would cost you to buy an actual Xbox right now. Thanks to a recent price increase, the 2TB Galaxy Xbox Series X costs $799.99. For the same price, you could buy ten pairs of these Xbox Crocs, including 50 charms. I wouldn't strongly recommend doing this unless you plan on kitting out an entire soccer team in these things – minus the goalkeeper, but it really puts things into perspective.
