Pokemon Legends: ZA fans are unhappy with popular Pokemon Legends: Arceus out of the game. With such success Pokemon Legends: Arceus enjoyed after it came out, it was impossible Pokemon Legends: ZA to avoid comparison altogether. Pokemon Legends: ZA came out three months ago today, and while it's facing backlash for decisions like slashing abilities and completely changing the gameplay loop and battle style, it's still arguably a good entry in the series that does a lot of things right.
Still, Pokemon Legends: ZARanked exclusive Mega Stones have sparked massive debate over whether the series relies on Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions for extra content, which in several cases FOR alone. for comparison, Pokemon Legends: Arceus it was designed as a single-player game that could be completed completely solo, including completing the Pokedex and catching Arceus, so there were no extra steps needed to achieve this goal, such as the fact that NSO was not needed. Now things are completely different and FOR demonstrated that some decisions should be reconsidered before publication Pokemon wind and wave.
I just started playing Pokemon Legends: ZA and I'm already disappointed
My Pokemon Legends: ZA adventure has just begun, but I'm already impressed with some aspects of the game.
Pokemon Legends: ZA cuts the best item in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Reddit user AdventurousForm6406 wrote a post about how this was supposed to change the game Pokemon Legends: Arceus' Connection cable available. This isn't the first post about this issue, and the fact that it got over 3,600 upvotes in less than 24 hours, three months after the game's release, sends a clear message.
Pokemon Legends: ZAThe store-exclusive evolutions are a very odd choice, because while it would make perfect sense to have them in a full-fledged new generation alongside the exclusive version creatures and even new store-only pokemon, FOR does not include any new species or forms except Mega Evolutions. As such, you cannot obtain the following Pokémon in the base game without trading:
-
Slowking (requires trading Slowpoke with King's Rock)
-
Scizor (requires trading Scyther for Metal Coat)
-
Aromatisse (requires trading Spritzee with bag)
-
Slurpuff (requires trading Swirlix for Whipped Cream)
Steelix is not available in the base game of Pokemon Legends: ZA until you run the One Who Gives post-race mission, but you can only catch one Alpha Steelix as a fixed encounter, with no way to get it outside of that mission or trading. All other trade-only Pokemon except these five can be found in the wild.
Pokemon Legends: ZA DLC won't atone for its store-exclusive sins
Pokemon Legends: ZAThe DLC partially fixes this, as all Pokémon in the game can be found in Hyperspace Wild Zones, even DLC-exclusive animals. This applies to all Pokemon except one – Milotic. For whatever reason, Milotic still needs to get online trading, so the DLC Pokedex cannot be completed on its own. This further requires the connecting cable to be reused in future games, especially for returning Pokémon that cannot be found in the wild.
One might argue that evolution exclusively for trade in Pokemon they were always a thing, and that would be right, except Pokemon Legends: Arceus. If Pokemon Legends: Arceus could have included a Linking Cord that would only make live animals available individually, and then any game after that has or had that option as well. In case Pokemon Legends: ZAit was a deliberate choice to make trading meaningful. However, given that the Nintendo Switch Online subscription is not free, the counter argument is that the game's price as a triple-A title should allow fans to finish the game at no additional cost, excluding DLC.
Not only that, but Pokemon Legends: ZAMega Sceptile cannot be obtained without a Nintendo Switch Online subscription in Season 5, as it is an exclusive reward for Ranked Battles. This isn't the only Pokemon to be subject to this treatment:
-
PLZA Season 1 featured the exclusive Mega Greninja.
-
PLZA Season 2 featured the exclusive Mega Delphox (and Greninja if not obtained).
-
PLZA Season 3 featured the exclusive Mega Chesnaught (as well as Greninja and Delphox if not acquired).
-
PLZA Season 4 featured the exclusive Mega Baxcalibur (as well as Greninja, Delphox, and Chesnaught if not obtained).
-
PLZA Season 5 features the exclusive Mega Sceptile (as well as Greninja, Delphox, Chesnaught, and Baxcalibur if not acquired).
-
Season 6 will feature a Mega Swampert that cannot be found anywhere else.
-
Season 7 will feature the Mega Blaziken, which cannot be obtained elsewhere.
Even though these are Mega Evolutions, there are at least seven Pokémon that cannot be obtained with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Combined with the missing connecting cable, that number will be at least eight, including Milotic, and possibly nine if the unreleased Mega Garchomp Z is also a ranked reward.
