ZA's DLC adds a completely broken, OHKO Wonder Pokemon that Gen 10 can't replicate

Although Pokemon Legends: ZA not quite like the other games in the series when it comes to battles, it quite shakes up the competitive roster with the new Mega Evolutions and the results can be seen when Pokemon Champions edition. For now, competitive ranked battles in Pokemon Legends: ZA were a mixed experience for many players, and the main reason is not due to the move to real-time matches, but rather the fact that legendary Pokemon like Xerneas, Zygarde, and Mewtwo became eligible for anyone to use. Now, the Mega Dimension DLC has released one of the most broken Pokémon ever made, thanks to a new Mega Evolution whose power level is extremely unlikely to be matched in Gen 10.

One of the reasons why Mega Evolution is so popular as a gimmick is that it gives new forms to some of the most popular Pokémon while making them stronger, while something like a regional form ends up with the same BST, just a different stat distribution. Each Mega Evolution v Pokemon Legends: ZA and past games add 100 stat points to a Pokemon's total and never change base HP, so if you do this for naturally high BST critters you can make a real powerhouse. Pokemon Legends: ZAMega Golisopod is exactly that and can hit a lot of Pokémon in one hit.

Say Hello to Pokemon Legends: ZA's New Threat

Why Pokemon Legends: ZA DLC Mega Golisopod is one of the best Pokemon ever made

Pokemon Legends: ZAThe DLC adds 9 legendary and 11 mythic Pokemon to catch, and several of them will eventually become a driving force in the game's ranked battles. However, Mega Golisopod is so strong that it can do more than just be strong in ranked battles, but could end up being one of the best Pokemon of all time in the VGC if Mega Evolutions were legal in the series. Pokemon Champions. Between its incredible stats and type mix, Mega Golisopod might just be the best new Pokemon in years, and not just in Legends: ZA.

You can get a Mega Golisopod from one of the Hyperspace Lumiose portals that says “Mega Stone Found!”. Wimpod is commonly available in 1-Star Bug portals, while Golisopod appears in 3-Star to 5-Star portals.

Mega Golisopod has a staggering 150 attack, 175 defense and 120 special defense, making it exceptionally bulky while also being able to deal massive damage to opponents. Additionally, his type combo changes from the already good Bug/Water to Bug/Steel, like Scizor and Mega Scizor, losing his 2x weaknesses to Flying, Rock, and Electric in favor of a single weakness to Fire times four, while changing his 5 resistances to 8 plus one immunity.

Why Bug/Steel is one of the best Pokemon type combos (especially with Water STAB)

However, this is a fantastic switch both offensively and defensively, as Golisopod is normally strong against Fire and deals STAB Water damage to Fire Pokemon. This means that one could choose to time Golisopod's Mega Evolution based on the enemy Pokemon on the field dealing with Fire-type Pokemon in Legends: ZA before Mega Evolving.

This is a luxury that critters like Scizor transforming into Mega Scizor and retaining their Bug/Steel type don't have. Even then, Mega Evolving removes the STAB damage from water moves, but the move pool remains the same. For these reasons combined with its fantastic stats, Mega Golisopod is one of the best Mega Evolutions in the series and one of the best creatures ever.

Pokemon Legends: ZA Season 4 will introduce one of the strongest Pokemon ever made

If that wasn't enough, Mega Golisopod gains access to Swords Dance, which increases its attack, and also learns a bunch of cover moves. With 252 EV in attack and 31 IV, Adamant Nature and Swords Dance active, Mega Golisopod can:

  • One-hit KO any Mewtwo in Pokemon Legends: ZA if he has 252 EV in HP, including Mega Evolutions, with First Impression, Leech Life, X-Scissor, Pin Missile or U-Turn.

  • One hit KO Xerneas in Pokemon Legends: ZA with Iron Head or Gunk Shot, provided he has no more than 20 EV in defense with 252 EV in HP, but still has a high chance to one-shot Xerneas with up to 100 points in defense and 252 in HP.

  • KO Charizard in one hit Pokemon Legends: ZA with Rock Slide, as well as Mega Charizard Y.

  • One hit KO Primal Groudon v Pokemon Legends: ZA with Liquidation and 85% chance to OHKO with Waterfall.

  • One hit KO Mega Darkrai in Pokemon Legends: ZA with First Impression, Leech Life, X-Scissor and Close Combat.

  • One hit KO Mega Heatran v Pokemon Legends: ZA with Drill Run and Close Combat.

These are just a few examples with fairly basic EV calculation and dispersion, but in turn-based duels Mega Golisopod can shine just as much or even more due to the reduced emphasis on maximum total HP EV. Its 40 base speed isn't great, but one of the best VGC strategies Pokemon is to make low-speed creatures go through the Trick Room first. Overall, Mega Golisopod is one of the best Pokemon ever made, and the Gen 10 games will have a hard time clearing the bar it set.
