Some might argue that the game and its expansion are disappointing because there are no brand new pokemon or regional forms, but Pokemon Legends: ZADLC returning Pokémon include several creatures from underrepresented regions such as Alola, Galar, and Paldea. Additionally, there are 19 new Mega Evolutions that are arguably better than the ones in the base game. However, the secret can easily go unnoticed.

The Mega Evolution concept makes a lot of sense within the framework Pokemon universe as it makes given creatures find a temporary power in a new form that isn't a permanent evolution like normal. This translates into gaining 100 extra stat points to improve the Pokémon's BST, and this phenomenon can also happen to fully evolved creatures, breaking the usual three-phase rule. While there is no actual Mega Dondozo in the game, it might surprise you to know Pokemon Legends: ZA When removing abilities, Dondozo actually has Commander as a hidden trait and works the same as in the Gen 9 games. To activate “Mega Dondozo” in REPTILESyou must:

Choose Tatsugiri in battle even if he doesn't use any moves.
Switch to Dondozo and activate Commander:
- Tatsugiri ends up in Dondoza's mouth, preventing Dondoza from transitioning out.
- Dondozo gains stat boosts in all stats, currently the only guaranteed way to do so in the game, and becomes incredibly powerful.
- This can be achieved in Pokemon Legends: ZA's ranked battles online, too.

How the combination of Dondozo and Tatsugiri compares between PLZA and Gen 9

Stats are increasing Pokemon Legends: ZA they work differently from other main games where they can range from +1 to +6 and even as low as -6. Additionally, multiple stat boosts can technically be gained in one swing, such as sword dance giving +2 to attack.

Pokemon Scarlet and VioletThe combination of Dondozo and Tatsugiri works in a similar way, as players must have Tatsugiri out in a double battle and then trade the Pokémon in favor of Dondozo to activate the commander. However, the main differences are as follows:

You can activate Dondoz's commander ability v Pokemon Scarlet and Violet even if you have Dondoza out and turn on Tatsugiri next to him. IN REPTILESYou can only activate Commander by switching Tatsugiri to Dondozo.
Dondoz's Commander ability gives him a +2 stat boost in each stat, instead of a one-time stat boost for all stats.

Stat boosts can only be positive or negative in Pokemon Legends: ZA, but a Pokemon's stats can be further boosted by using a red item or a blue item in ranked battles, the former increasing attack power and the latter reducing damage taken.

Pokemon Legends: ZAThe best teams usually use some form of hyper-aggressive attackers and defensive Pokemon to get into the lead or into the lead. A common strategy is to use a “screen setup”, which can use both reflect and light screen, making himself and all Pokemon on the team more resistant to physical and special attacks respectively.

The point is that the screen adjuster can be used in a team with Tatsugiri and Dondozo, then switch to Tatsugiri after using Reflect and Light Screen, and finally to Dondozo to get an omni-stat boost while reducing damage overall. Dondozo doesn't have Mega Evolution but can use Plus Moves in Pokemon Legends: ZA. This combined with the attack boost and maximum Attack IV and EV can be extremely deadly.
