IO Interactive has given us our first good look at the year-long plan following the launch of 007 First Light, which will add some notably missing features like Photo Mode and New Game Plus.
With Final Fantasy 7 Revelations, a new Stellar Blade, TMNT: The Last Ronin, and more, last night's Summer Game Fest was absolutely packed with announcements. One of the things that was very briefly mentioned during the event was the new mission for 007 First Light, which will see the return of Bawma.
The new mission was only introduced very briefly at Summer Game Fest, making it very easy to overlook the fact that it actually ended up being a much bigger announcement for 007 First Light – his year one plan that will introduce a lot of new content and, more interestingly, some highly requested features.
Thank goodness Photo mode is coming to the first light of 007 in its first year
No more full UI screenshots
Right off the bat of the trailer for the new Bawma mission coming to 007 First Light, we got a look at the first year's plan for the post-launch content coming to the game. Although IO Interactive warns that everything on the schedule could be moved or pushed back, it looks like it's going to be a very busy year for Bond fans.
Some of the less exciting things listed on the schedule include track tracking, the release of the Nintendo Switch 2, a new gadget called the G2 glasses, the expected Tac Sim expansions, and the now announced Bawma mission. These are all good additions, but where it gets really interesting are the two features that the players were begging for.
The first of these is a dedicated photo mode, which I think anyone who played First Light will agree was sorely missed. The world of IO is overwhelming and it's a real shame that you can only take screenshots that are filled to the brim with UI elements. There's no word on when the photo mode is expected, but it certainly won't be too long compared to the rest of the content.
It's a bit of a shame that this doesn't come until after launch, meaning you'll have to replay missions if there are any scenes you want to capture nicely.
Another, probably much bigger, inclusion is the New Game Plus mode, another feature that fans have been sorely missing. It's unclear what New Game Plus entails, like whether it'll let you replay missions with all the gadgets unlocked or whether you'll be able to wear any outfit you want, but it's still another mode that will be massively appreciated.
