Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on July 23rd, as Square Enix confirmed the news with a surprise reveal on social media. Switch port 2 Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster was announced hours before the Nintendo Direct went live on June 9.
Originally released in July 2001, Final Fantasy 10 is the first Final Fantasy title for fully voiced characters. Final Fantasy 10 tells the story of Tidus, a star blitzball athlete, and Yuna, a young Summoner on a mission to defeat the colossal Sin. Sequel from 2003 Final Fantasy 10-2Yuna joins Rikku and Paine to form a trio of orb hunters called Gullwings. While Final Fantasy 10 is considered a breakthrough entry for its graphics and voice acting, Final Fantasy 10-2 is a polarizing title that has divided fans for over two decades.

Soon, more Final Fantasy fans can look forward to two of the most popular entries in the franchise. Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster launches on Switch 2 on July 23rd for $49.99 and pre-orders are now open on the Nintendo Store. The two-game compilation contains over 100 hours of combined gameplay content, including exclusive boss battles first seen in the international versions of the games. Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster also includes the original and remastered audio tracks of both Final Fantasy games along with quality-of-life options like high-speed mode and the ability to turn off random encounters.
However, Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster has several caveats for players. Save the data from the Switch version Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster cannot be ported to the upcoming Switch 2 port. Additionally, the North American launch of Duology Switch 2 will be digital only, as Square Enix has not announced any plans for a physical release outside of Japan. Regardless of that Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster requires only 27.8 GB of storage space, physical copies sold in Japan will be released on the controversial Game-Key Card format. We'll see if Square Enix expands physical sales Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster outside Japan.
Hours after the release of the news about Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD RemasterSquare Enix has revealed several more titles coming to the Switch 2 throughout 2026 and beyond. During the Nintendo Direct on June 9, Square Enix revealed Final Fantasy Resonancea new HD-2D title based on the first chapter of the defunct mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Final Fantasy Resonance will also introduce characters from the past Final Fantasy titles such as Tidus as visions that players can summon into battle. Final Fantasy Resonance launches on Switch 2 and other current-gen platforms on October 22.

The Switch 2 will also see an arrival Final Fantasy 14 in August 2026, along with the highly anticipated launch Final Fantasy 7 Revelation in the spring of 2027. Given that Final Fantasy 10 will celebrate its 25th anniversary of arrival in the coming weeks Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster on Switch 2 couldn't be more timely for fans.
