Those of you who are a certain age can remember a very different console war than the one we are all used to. In the age of 90, it was not Xbox and PlayStation, which with each other, but rather Sega and Nintendo, with consoles like SNES and Sega Genesis, which compete together in the same markets. In fact, the phrase “Sega is doing what Nintendon't” is often referred to today.
Of course, since the Sega stepped out of the console market, this dispute has died largely and has been replaced by the current dispute between the PlayStation and Xbox. This does not mean that Sega will not take his old opponent whenever he can, with two competitors in the Racer Genne this year with Sonic Racing: Crossworlds and Mario Kart World and Sega decided to take a cheeky crossing.
Sonic Racing: Crossworlds AD makes fun of Mario Kart World
In Sonic Racing: The latest Crossworld advertising (which you can see above), Sega is starting to refer to the “kart racing game” and at the same time showing a television with a blurred screen covering the very vague game Mario Kart-Esque. The announcer says it is “great” and then begins to publicize Crossworld. So far it is a fun little recognition of the main competitor of the game, but so far nothing too slander.
This is until the announcer has completed and introduces all the great things about Crossworlds, just to switch the camera back to the same pixel TV with the vague shot of Mario Kart. This time he is strapped to the back of the Bounted RV, while the announcer asks a somewhat rejecting tone if you'd rather “roam on an open road”. It's a petty blow that I can really get.
Unfortunately, if Sega wants to start talking about a slap about one of the most famous cards outside, it will really have to bring with Sonic Racing: Crossworlds. Fortunately, it seems to be a pretty good time if previews and impressions of beta games have a lot to go through. Although I'm not sure why we are arguing about Sonic versus Mario when we all know that Crash Bandicoot is Kart Racing King.
