For as many roguelike games as there are, there are few that allow players to play cooperatively online. Ravenswatchhowever, it offers online co-op, which arguably makes the game more fun, although players can still enjoy the game in single-player mode.

Ravenswatch's the world and playable characters are heavily themed around folk heroes and old legends, giving the game a distinctive visual flair. With its recent 1.0 release marking the end of its Early Access run, there's never been a better time to dive into this challenging action-rogue-like.

Updated October 1, 2024, Harry Ted Sprinks: Developed by Passtech Games (the team behind the unique action roguelike, Curse Of The Dead Gods), Ravenswatch recently left Early Access and headed into 1.0 with a major update that added a new character to the game. This, along with the game's other talents and balance changes, shifted the balance of the game dramatically. With nine playable characters now available and each game lasting over an hour, it's helpful to know what each character can do.

9 Ratcatcher

Long range character with low damage

Ratcatcher he is one of the weakest characters Ravenswatchthough arguably he's more useful in multiplayer where he has a team that can pull enemies away from him. The Pied Piper's damage is relatively low compared to other characters. However, it also has a ranged attack.

A special character with a slow start

This makes Geppetto a tough character to get off the ground, although he does push into the late game fairly well and can generally provide a lot of support to his teammates. Geppetto's dummies are especially useful as they can block projectiles and draw aggro, allowing Geppetto to easily revive team members in online co-op while his dummies distract their enemies.

7 Beowulf

A tanky character that can hold his own

Beowulf he is a strong and clumsy character who can hold his own in many encounters. His Wyrm-enabled abilities are great for clearing out large groups, and his shield helps protect him from projectiles and enemy attacks. Additionally, Beowulf's spinning attack allows him to both initiate enemies and retreat from combat.

Unfortunately, Beowulf's melee attacks and difficult to control spins put him in a lot of danger. Regardless, it could be argued that Beowulf has access to some of the more powerful talents in the game, making him a fairly powerful character.

6 Melusine

A strong character with a strange playstyle

Melusine it takes some getting used to since it can't attack and move at the same time. However, once players get used to switching between stances, Melusine can be extremely powerful. Fortunately, Melusine is able to maneuver around the battlefield with relative ease, allowing her to weave between enemies and stay out of harm's way.

Melusine is arguably stronger when played in online co-op as she can more easily attack enemies from a distance while her team draws their attention. While Melusine doesn't have as much AOE ability as other characters, her ultimate Water Bomb can deal massive damage over a large area.

5 Sun Wukong

A high-risk, high-reward character

Wukong is one of the more recent additions Ravenswatchand offers a risk-reward play style that won't be for everyone. Wukong's trait allows him to use two unique stances: one that allows him to deal (and take) more damage, and another that allows him to regenerate health.

As a result, Wukong can be particularly difficult for beginners to master, as he must be in his Yang Stance to deal damage, but this also makes him vulnerable to one-hitting or at the very least. do massive damage. However, in this vulnerable state, the potential damage to Wukong is immense. Mastering the balance between the two stances is essential to success as Wukong, but mastering his defensive ability—a powerful parry—is even more integral. However, once players master this hero, he can be tremendously powerful.

4 Carmilla

A mobile hero with a risky toolkit

This latest addition to the Ravenswatch is a stylish and ridiculously mobile hero with a risk-reward playstyle that's full of highs and lows. There's a lot to Carmilla, especially at first glance, but her diverse abilities and talents allow for expressive gameplay. Carmilla centers around her blood mechanic, a themed system based on her vampire nature.

Carmilla uses Blood to make the most of her abilities, some of which waste valuable resources when used in certain ways. Blood can be obtained in several ways, but if the player runs out, they can use up their health points instead. This isn't ideal though, as HP isn't easy to get through her toolkit. Each of Carmilla's abilities are so diverse that they give her great mobility, damage, and AOE, making her a versatile character that scales talents well. However, Carmilla's abilities can take some getting used to, and her Force forces her to stand still, which is at odds with an otherwise mobile skill set.

3 Aladdin

A strong support hero

Aladdin's the modest damage is made up for by his all-around ultimate and his ability to beat teammates. This makes Aladdin tremendously more powerful in multiplayer as he is able to give players a head start with his wishes which grant consumables to everyone in the party.

One downside to Aladdin is his special special ability, which involves throwing blades at enemies and being unable to attack. However, this enchants his blades and allows him to deal more damage, but it could be argued that Aladdin is weak until he gets the proper abilities. Despite these drawbacks, Aladdin's support tools make him one of the most powerful heroes for larger teams.

2 Scarlett

A strong damage dealer with a lack of control

Scarlett is one of the most powerful heroes in the game, with her only drawback being the lack of player control over her form. By day, Scarlet is a glass cannon with tons of maneuverability and defenses that make her intangible, but by night she becomes a tank-like she-wolf with self-healing abilities.

However, Scarlet's combo point system allows her to deal massive damage, although it does require some skill. When played correctly, Scarlet can damage many other characters Ravenswatchespecially with the right talents.

1 Snow Queen

A powerful combination of AOE and single target damage

Snow Queen she is currently one of the strongest characters in the game as she is great against both single targets and large groups of enemies. Many of her abilities allow her to chill enemies, while others allow her to deal bonus damage to enemies she has chilled.

With a strong melee AOE that allows the Snow Queen to keep enemies away from her, and great agility gained from her defensive ability (which allows her to skate around the map), the Snow Queen is a nimble character. with extreme survivability and damage potential.
