This article contains spoilers from the Boruto series.
Naruto Uzumaki is quite easily one of the most popular characters not only in his own series, but in all of anime as a whole. The fans know Naruto is an extremely strong individualbut more than that, someone who represents the ideal of never giving up and who stands against all odds. These qualities make Naruto Uzumaki as popular as it is today. Unfortunately, Boruto the series hasn't been as kind to Naruto Uzumaki as it could have been, and that's quite a shame.
The series focusing on his son Boruto Uzumaki took care of that Naruto Uzumaki is officially removed from the plot and completely incapable. Right now Naruto Uzumaki is closed Borutoand the village he is supposed to protect is there without a proper protector. That said, Kishimoto and Ikemoto didn't completely leave Konoha without a hero. The fans know this very well Konoha already has a new Naruto Uzumakialbeit one that isn't half as impressive or iconic as he is. The new Hokage of Konoha is none other than Shikamaru Naraand he officially replaced Naruto after Omnipotence finally took effect.
Shikamaru Nara replaced Naruto Uzumaki in Boruto as Hokage

Shikamaru will likely be removed as Hokage soon
When the first part Boruto series officially ended, fans eagerly awaited who would be the next Hokage of the village. Most fans hoped so Sasuke Uchiha or Sakura Haruno officially take up this position.
Shikamaru, you won't be able to avoid the position of Hokage forever. — To Elder Shikamaru
It would be difficult for the former as he left the village with Boruto, but the latter would be the perfect replacement for Naruto Uzumaki until he returned. Much to the surprise of fans, Naruto Uzumaki's official replacement was none other than Shikamaru Narahis best advisor.
Fans know that Shikamaru is very smart and it goes without saying that there is probably no better advisor in Konoha than him. Unfortunately, he is far from being a good leader or a strong one. Overall, he's not a good replacement for Naruto, and he certainly won't last long either. Shikamaru faces the wrath of the village elders for siding with Boruto Uzumaki, and it looks like he won't be able to hold onto the Hokage for long.
I will become Hokage of Konoha as Lord Seventh. — Sarada Uchiha
Sarada is Naruto's official replacement
Sarada has the same dream as Naruto
While Shikamaru Nara is the acting Hokage of Konohafans know very well that in the long run the real replacement for Naruto Uzumaki is none other than Sarada Uchiha. Like Naruto, Sarada has a goal of becoming Hokage and wants to go straight to the top. Her recent awakening of the Mangekyo Sharingan has brought her closer to her goal of becoming Hokage, but it is still too early for that position. In the next few years, Sarada Uchiha would surely mature enough to be good enough to take this position. Maybe, Konoha will have its youngest Hokage in Sarada Uchiha in the coming years.
I realize that Boruto started out as a sequel to Naruto, but because of Naruto's massive presence, it's been quite a journey. Boruto has finally shown himself to be a proper protagonist in his own right. But will he be a hero on the same level as his father? Or maybe even surpass him? To be honest… I'm not entirely sure what's going to happen myself. This will depend on the support of our readers, so please continue to support us. -Ikemoto
