The new king of anime has officially been decided, and it's not one piece

One piece is the undisputed king of manga in the industry and his numbers speak for themselves. One piece is by far the best-selling manga of all time, and no other series even comes close to achieving what it has in the past 28 years of serialization. While the One Piece manga is amazing, the series has struggled in the anime department, although it has improved in recent years.

When it comes to anime, only one series can rightfully be named the king, and that's it Demon Slayerseries whose anime and film success took the whole world by storm. Demon Slayer will continue to grow from here, especially as his next two films approach.

  • Demon Slayer exceeded all expectations

  • It has the two biggest anime movies to date

When it comes to iconic manga series, there can be absolutely no doubt about it One piece is at the very top. There has been One Piece for a while now the best-selling manga in the worldwith nearly 600 million copies in circulation. No other manga series, not even Dragon Ball or Naruto, come close. This number is not high just because of the length One piece story because the series still has insanely high sales per volume. Fans would be absolutely right to speak up One Piece the King of Mangaor the greatest manga ever created.

When it comes to anime, however, things are very different. The One Piece anime, which is a weekly series, has really struggled over the yearsit is plagued by terrible pacing and subpar animation. The animation has improved recently since the Wano arc, but there are still some pretty significant dips compared to other series.

Because of all this, you don't really make a phone call One piece also the king of anime. This title belongs to none other than the Demon Slayer. Over the years, Demon Slayer has proven how successful its anime is. The franchise exploded after its championship first season, but that was just the beginning.

What does it really do? What makes Demon Slayer stand out among the rest is its monumental cinematic successsomething that is quite obviously unprecedented. Both his original films, Mugen Train and Infinity Castle are #1 and #2 Japanese box office hits. That one series has accomplished this is astounding and will likely never be replicated.

Will One Piece ever get a movie as big as Demon Slayer?

The potential is there, but it may not be feasible

One Piece doesn't have the biggest movie in Japan, but it still did incredibly well at the box office with a 2022 release, One Piece: The Movie Red. The film was in the top 5 of the Japanese box office for some time and still remains in the top 10.

This is very impressive, especially as the movie is not canonunlike the Demon Slayer movies. Many fans believe this a true canon One Piece movie could be the turning point the series needs. For example, some fans think a The movie God Valley should really be considered a film project.

uta one piece red film

Sounds awesome in theory, but can be pretty hard to pull off with canon movies One piece because it's a weekly series and for how long One piece arcs stretch. God Valley will soon be adapted into an anime when the Elbaf arc starts and it's already in the anime, not so many people will be that interested in seeing it on the big screen.

There doesn't seem to be much hope of One Piece getting a main canon film release, unfortunately, which means that future One Piece releases in theaters will only have to rely on ideas that Oda rejected for his manga and gave to the producers.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is out now. Fans who don't want to wait for the movies to drop can watch the manga on Manga Plus. Meanwhile, for the anime, the series currently has 4 anime seasons. You can find all these anime seasons on Crunchyroll. However, the rest of the series will be animated into movies, which fans will have to wait for their theatrical release, depending on their country.
