Released exclusively for PlayStation 5 on October 2nd Ghost of Yotei debuted with strong sales figures, reportedly surpassing two million units sold in its first three days on the market. These three-day sales figures are quite comparable to those of its predecessor, Ghost of Tsushimawhich has sold more than 13 million copies based on financial figures released in September 2024.
Magic: The Gathering PlayStation Secret Lair Cards includes Ghost of Yotei's Atsu
In the middle Ghost of YoteiA recent success on PS5, Wizards of the Coast has announced that Atsu will be included as a Legendary Creature card. Magic: The Gathering's Secret Lair x PlayStation drop scheduled for release on October 27th. As stated in an interview with IGN, Wizards of the Coast originally approached Sony Interactive Entertainment with the idea of including the Ghost of Yotei's protagonist in his special PlayStation set even before the video game was revealed to the public. The idea was pitched to Jason Connell, creative director of Sucker Punch Productions, who reportedly felt it would be “cool”. The result is a rare Human Rogue card that costs one blue and one generic mana, has one strength and three toughness, and prevents opponents from blocking creatures with a strength or toughness of one.
Along with Atsu, Ghost of TsushimaJin Sakai will also appear in the upcoming PlayStation-themed set, showing the respect Sony and outsiders have for the franchise. Being a bit heavier than Atsu with two feats and four toughness, it also costs a bit more to get onto the board, requiring one generic mana and one each of white, black and blue. It also allows players to draw a card whenever they deal combat damage to another player, and can grant Ghost or Standoff to another controlled creature when attacking a player that no other creature is attacking.
Secret Lair x PlayStation also features a few more famous pairings, including Joel and Ellie from The last of us and Kratos and Atreus from God of War franchise. Other famous PlayStation figures that make the cut are Horizon franchises Aloy and Unchartedis Nathan Drake.
