There are many materials that you can come across Arc Raider and while some exist only to be sold or recycled, others are key items used to craft the gear you'll need to survive.
One of them is a voltage converter, which players will need if they want to make a heavy shield or a grenade launcher. Fortunately, this item is a bit easier to obtain than some of the more elusive rare tier items such as Rusted Gears or Industrial Battery. Here's where to find and what you can salvage to get this crafting material.
Where to find voltage converters
When it comes to finding voltage converters, there are a few different places you can look. Classified as an electrical type material, this means you have a better chance of finding it at any point of interest with a bold lightning bolt under the name. Here are some key places I like to hunt when specifically growing voltage converters:
- Pilgrim's Peak at the Blue Gate
- Electric substation and power generation complex on the battlefields of the dam
- Arrival building at the spaceport
Pilgrim's Peak is my favorite place to hunt voltage changersbecause the basement is full of all these electrical panels and fuse boxes that you can crack. Along with processors and sensors, I often find several voltage converters this way. It also helps that it's a higher level loot zone, which means your chances of finding blue or even epic gear are much better than most locations – especially since Pilgrim's Peak contains a lot of electric-type materials.
Another popular, if often chaotic, location is the Power Generation Complex at the Dam Battlegrounds. It's located in the northern part of the map and you'll also want to stick to the basement when you're looking for voltage converters.
Loot isn't as densely packed as Pilgrim's Peak, but it makes up for it with the sheer size of this POI. There are several areas with many computer terminals and breakable metal boxes that are often great for finding voltage converters when you need them.
Finally, the arrivals building at the spaceport is based entirely on my big, totally superstitious belief that the breakable basement is full of cool electrical items. Although the building is classified as commercial and technology, there is a small basement room that you can enter that has a lot of computers and servers that you can break into. I have had a lot of consistent success when looking for voltage converters.
What to recycle for voltage converters
Conversely, if you don't want to hunt down voltage converters individually, you can always disassemble specific materials and get them. Remember to always recycle outside the raid as it will give better yield and items when you strip them of parts. Items that can be salvaged for voltage converters are:
- Industrial charger
- Ion atomizer
- Signal amplifier
Of the three, Ion Sputters are the best choice as they give you 4 voltage converters and an Exodus module. These are Epic Tier though, so don't expect to bump into them too much. This means that if you end up with a ton of them while exploring the new Stella Montis map, you can safely break them down for these materials!
