EA called Battlefield 6 the best-selling shooter of 2025 on its website, putting it above other heavy hitters such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and ARC Raiders. Battlefield 6 is a sequel Battlefield 2042a game that was not received with the same positivity and currently has “mixed” reviews on Steam. On the other hand, Battlefield 6 sitting at 71% mostly positive, despite a recent influx of negative reviews.
in many ways Battlefield 6 players return to the near-realistic ground-based gameplay that the series was initially known for. However, with the launch of Season 1 and RedSec's Battle Royale mode, viewers pushed the game a bit, pointing out its descent into the “unrealistic” skins that were a major point of contention in the last game. Other common points of criticism include Battlefield 6A paid battle pass and lots of microtransactions that many say are out of place in a $70 game. In a new report from EA, it seems that they have not broken this hurdle Battlefield 6's move, at least commercially.
If Battlefield ever beats Call of Duty, it's this year
Call of Duty has consistently beaten Battlefield games in sales, but 2025 could be the year that finally changes.
Battlefield 6 is the best-selling shooter of the year, according to EA's website
Currently it is Battlefield 6 section of the EA website has a banner that says “Thanks for creating Battlefield 6 the best-selling shooter of the year,” indicating that it is selling above its stiff competition. At the time of writing Battlefield 6 has reportedly sold over 10 million copies across all platforms. This could be tracked with an early report from The Games Business stating that DICE's new shooter is having a much stronger launch in the UK than Call of Duty: Black Ops 7its biggest competitor. This is also claimed by Games Business Black Ops 7 sold more than 60% fewer copies than Black Ops 6.
Games Business data comes from physical retail sales of games, not digital purchases, so it should be taken with a grain of salt.
When comparing, it's important to note Xbox Game Pass Black Ops 7 on Battlefield 6: Black Ops 7 was made available on Game Pass day and date, giving “free” access to subscribers on PC and Xbox Series consoles. This would naturally translate into lower retail sales compared to Battlefield 6which isn't available on any subscription platform other than EA Play Pro, which costs $17 a month and isn't nearly as widespread as Game Pass or PS Plus.
Still, it sells better than ARC Raiderswhich was launched on the same day as Battlefield 6 and as of November 11, it had only sold about 4 million copies, despite its viral success. Battlefield 6 also sold more than other shooters like Borderlands 4although it is not usually considered a direct competitor to the multiplayer military simulator franchise.
