Although Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom may be a first for the main series, it also seems to share a lot of similarities with what came before. Of course, the basic concept is practically the same as all of them The Legend of Zelda game, except this time it stars Princess Zelda. Along with this, players can also expect a few features from the past Zelda games that will appear here, including Stamp Rally. But perhaps the biggest surprise is the fact that the entire boss seems to have risen from the dead Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
Introduced in Zelda: Ocarina of Timethe giant fire serpent Volvagia made his spectacular return to wreak havoc on the hero of Hyrule all those years later. This time, he appears as an echo residing in another fire temple in Still World and tests the player's mettle once again. However, while it may be the same boss, the actual fights couldn't be more different.
Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and Ocarina of Time approach this boss very differently
Zelda: Ocarina of Time pitted players against the fiery Volvagia
Players are first introduced to Volvagia during their adventures in the game Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Once upon a time, a snake lived in the depths of Death Mountain, and it was there that a legendary hero defeated it. But Ganondorf ends up reviving it over time Ocarina of Time so that she can protect the Temple of Fire. So it's up to Link to head to that mountain to destroy it before it can escape and destroy Hyrule.
A pretty tough boss fight ensues, with Volvagia flying around the battlefield and Link trying not to fall into holes in the ground. It works pretty much like a game of Whac-A-Mole, where the dragon jumps out of various lava-filled holes and players have to headbutt it as it does so while avoiding its attacks. After players successfully hit it, Volvagia will fly into the air and act intimidating, allowing players to hit it with arrows before heading back for another Whac-A-Mole. Occasionally, giant rocks will also fall from the sky, and this process repeats until players are able to defeat it.
Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom brings Volvagia back better than ever
Volvagia makes a spectacular comeback Zelda: Echoes of Wisdombut this time the fight is very different. Players will encounter the dragon in the Temple of Eldin, where he serves as the main dungeon boss. Much like in Ocarina of Timethe fight itself is full of lava, and if the player isn't careful, they can burn themselves to a crisp. However, the battlefield and actual mechanics are extremely different.
Since Princess Zelda can't fight without using echo, the battle is built around that rather than standard The Legend of Zelda fight for Ocarina of Time. Players have several platforms at their disposal, between which Volvagia moves. Players will want to cast ranged echoes or flying echoes to damage it, and use their dragon binding ability to stun the dragon so it can't fly through the sky or between platforms. Once stunned, they can strike it with their sword, arrows, or echo, dealing immense damage.
Grezzo could have just copied and pasted Volvagia, but it was an extra step since the battles were actually very different. The battlefield looks different, the dragon functions differently, and the moves required to defeat it are unique to the game in which they take place. Of course, gamers will likely debate which iteration is the best for years to come. But the fact that they can do it is fantastic to see and hopefully other forgotten bosses will get their time to shine. Zeldafuture.
