Eiichiro Oda One piece has gained fans around the world thanks to the mangaka's knack for creating an interesting story with fun characters to root for. Monkey D. Luffy's quest to become the Pirate King has captivated anime and manga fans for decades, and a large part of the series' success has to do with how much fun it is to root for its hero.
Luffy isn't the only great character One piece however, it has to offer. Plenty of other main and supporting characters, from Luffy's own crewmates to adversaries and allies, are just as interesting, if not more so. These characters would be absolutely perfect protagonists in their own series set in One piece world.
Koby
In many ways, Koby has all the makings of a classic shonen protagonist. When we first meet him, he is quite weak and incredibly timid. But when Luffy saves him from the pirates of Alvida, he sets out to fulfill his dream of becoming a great marine, similar to Luffy's dream of becoming a pirate king.
A series following Koby's exploits would be fun. We were able to follow the specifics of Koby's rise through the ranks, the struggles he faced in attaining his current rank of sea captain, his exploits with SWORD, and get more of his interactions with characters like Garp, Helmeppo, and other SWORD members.
Boa Hancock
A series following the former Warlord of the Sea and current Kuja Pirates Captain would definitely be interesting. Bo Hancock's role in One piece she's been fairly limited, but she's still an important supporting character who's had some great moments.
What would really make a Hancock-centric series interesting would be to focus on her past and early life. Hancock and her sisters were forced into slavery after being kidnapped by slavers and sold to world nobles. They eventually escape their captors thanks to Fisher Tiger and later Gloriose, Shakky and Rayleigh and return to their Amazon Lilly home. Seeing the early years of Hancock's reign as Empress Kuja and how she earned such a fearsome reputation would absolutely rule.
Ace
Although Ace has been absent from the main narrative for a long time, fans still love him as much as they did when Oda killed him fifteen years ago. One piece fans would absolutely love to see more Ace, and the groundwork for an Ace-centric adaptation was already laid with the spin-off One Piece: Ace's Story.
If the events of the novel and manga were adapted, and if the series contained some additional information about Ace's deeds before his death, it could easily become a hit with fans. Ace has the charisma to lead his own series, and even though we know how his story ends, fans will always be interested in seeing more of him.
Vivi
We know Vivi has led a pretty interesting life so far. She may be royalty, but Vivi is far from a spoiled princess. We've seen Vivi do a lot of great things on the show, from infiltrating the Baroque Works to joining the Straw Hat crew to save her home country.
Vivi is the only Straw Hat to leave the crew so far. So while the others continued on their grand adventure, Vivi did her own thing. Vivi doesn't lead a boring life despite leaving the crew and is still poised to become an important character in the Final Saga. A series focusing more on her exploits would be a great way to reconnect fans with the beloved Straw Hat.
Whitebeard
After the recent extended flashback in the Elbaf Arc, we saw a bit more of the great Whitebeard. Although this footage focused more on Rocks, Harald and Roger, we got to know a bit more about young Edward Newgate.
A series where we follow Newgate through the God Valley and see the early years of his crew, their exploits, and watch him transform into the Whitebeard that fans love would be an amazing spin-off. One piece. As with Ace, we know how Whitebeard's story ends, but there's so much potential that it doesn't really matter.
Shanks
Although Luffy did One Piece's Shanks' popularity, a main character and a big part of why so many people love the series, cannot be overlooked. In addition to being a fan favorite, Shanks is one of the most interesting characters that we don't see much of.
Shanks, a former member of the legendary Roger Pirates, captain of the Red-Haired Pirates, one of the Four Emperors and a member of the Figarland family, is associated with some One Piece's in some ways the most important characters while also being one of the most important characters in the series in his own right. There's so much to focus on for Shanks, from his early life to his actions before meeting Luffy to everything he's been up to throughout One Piece's main story we don't know about.
Dragon
There is one character that fans have been dying to see more than Shanks and that is Luffy's father, Garp's son, the Supreme Commander of the Revolutionary Army; Monkey D. Dragon. With nicknames like “Rebellious Dragon” and “The World's Worst Criminal”, you can see why so many fans are intrigued by the Dragon and why his relative absence from most narratives is frustrating.
many.
Flashback God Valley finally gave us a glimpse into Dragon's early life and it didn't disappoint. We know why he became a revolutionary, but a series focusing on the specifics and other elements of his life, such as meeting Luffy's mother and his revolutionary actions before and during the series, would be amazing.
