Spoilers ahead God of War and God of War Ragnarok.
Although God of War fans are still waiting with baited breath to find out who will play Kratos and his son Atreus, they may already know who will play some of his adversaries. According to insider Daniel Richtman, known for sharing information about the MCU, DCU and other areas of nerd culture, God of WarBaldur and Thor can be played by Max Parker and Olafur Darri Olafsson.
Max Parker has appeared in many television shows including Doctor Who and Bootsas well as movies like Vampire Academy. Boots was a breakthrough role for the 33-year-old actor, who certainly has the right vibe for Baldur. There are some clear facial similarities between the Englishman and Santa Monica's interpretation of the sentient son of Odin, and he's in excellent physical condition – something that should help ensure his inevitable battle with Kratos comes close to meeting the opening-time magical boss God of War 2018.
As for the Thor actors, Olafur Darri Olafsson shone in the critically acclaimed series Severance and also won awards for his roles in The Deep and The Minister. The 52-year-old boasts an impressive Thor Odinson-like beard, with the reddish hue also fitting the concept of the god playing with Mjolnir. He's also 6-foot-2 and has a similar build to Thor in the game, which combined with his acting pedigree pretty much guarantees that he's the perfect choice for the character.
Official information about Amazon's God of War could be coming sooner rather than later
Obviously, this leak should be taken with a grain of salt, as anecdotal information can always turn out to be false. Additionally, while this is true, Richtman stated that the actors are only “in negotiations” for the roles so far, meaning there's a chance that a deal won't be reached or that different actors could be cast for the characters. Still, the response to these names on social media platforms like Reddit has been unanimously positive, with users specifically citing Olafsson's voice as another quality that makes him perfect for Thor. As for when fans can expect to hear some official news God of WarAmazon's early 2026 adaptation is a safe bet given that production is set to begin next March.
Since it is likely to be for a God of War TV series, a 2027 release date is likely for the show's first season.
What's particularly interesting about this leak is that Thor appears to be cast in the show's first season, despite only a cameo in the end credits. God of War 2018. This suggests that he could have a larger role in the show, with episodes potentially exploring the Aesir instead of their stories playing out in the background. Fans can see Thor interacting with his brother Baldur and his two sons, which didn't happen in the games, and there's even a chance that his battle with Kratos' wife Faye could be shown on screen. While there is an order for two seasons God of War on Amazon, it's unclear if both of these seasons will be used to tell the story of the 2018 game, or if Season 2 will focus on Ragnarok — though many would certainly hope that the sequel gets at least two seasons so that it's properly fleshed out and not rushed.
While serial purists may be concerned about God of War shows potentially spending too much time on supporting characters and distracting from Kratos and Atreus, the idea has its merits. For now, fans will have to wait patiently to see if this exciting casting leak turns out to be true and if Amazon can strike gold with another game adaptation, just like they did with their Fallout series.
