Boruto officially establishes his greatest romantic couple at the end of the game

Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes written by none other than Mikio Ikemoto and supervised by Masashi Kishimoto, the legendary creator of the Naruto series. In the original series, which focused on Naruto Uzumaki's story up to the point where he became the Seventh Hokage, the romance was just a side plot that the author didn't really focus on. Kishimoto himself admitted that he was not good at writing novels, so he tried to avoid it as much as possible. However, Mikio Ikemoto took a completely different approach.

In his story, romance and feelings of love take center stage, which are incredibly important across many storylines. Now, the latest V-Jump Issue #8 has been revealed, officially due out on June 20th, 2026, and we're introduced to Boruto's most lauded couple on the cover for the first time ever. This is a pair of main characters — Boruto Uzumaki and Sarada Uchiha.

On June 14, 2026, preview V-jump Issue 8 has been officially revealed, and in this sneak peek it was confirmed that Boruto: Two Blue Vortex was to be featured on the cover of the magazine. For this cover, Mikio Ikemoto drew very eye-catching art featuring two of his main characters, Boruto Uzumaki and Sarada Uchiha. Both Boruto and Sarada are seen sporting red outfits that clearly match each other. At the same time, Sarada leans on Boruto's shoulder and the two of them pose together in a rather interesting way that is sure to spark talk of them being a couple by the end of the series.

“After all, I've decided to stop running. I like Boruto too.” — Sarada Uchiha declares her feelings for Boruto, Two Blue Vortexes, Chapter #28

It's no surprise that Boruto Uzumaki and Sarada Uchiha are fan-shipped together and have been since the very beginning of the story, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump #23 dated May 9, 2016. Since then, even author Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto have created a perfect romantic plot. Both Boruto and Sarada are known to have feelings of love for each other, and while they aren't involved in a romantic relationship, the ship is definitely there for all to see. This new cover that was shown will be released in full on June 20, 2026 and will add more fuel to the fire when it comes to this great pair.

Boruto and Sarada's ship is officially known as 'BoruSara' among fans and is very popular. This is because Boruto Uzumaki is the son of Naruto while Sarada is the daughter of Sasuke. In the original series, Naruto and Sasuke were also shipped together but never ended up together. However, their children are very different. Boruto and Sarada are prime candidates to form the biggest romance in the Boruto series, and the latest cover of V-Jump Issue #8 is sure to emphasize that again.

“You want to help Boruto, don't you? You really are my child. Being willing to throw everything else aside for a single boy.” — Sakura acknowledges Sarada's love for Boruto, Two Blue Vortexes, Chapter #34

In fact, in the main story, Sarada Uchiha is known to have a deep love for Boruto Uzumaki. She laid down her life for Boruto on many occasions, allowed herself to be slandered for him for three years, and even her Mangekyo Sharingan, which is her strongest power, was awakened due to her deep desire to protect none other than Boruto Uzumaki. Meanwhile, Boruto himself has given his life for Sarada on several occasions and is known to have more than friendly feelings for her.

While it's highly unlikely that they'll develop any sort of romantic bond before the end of the series due to the chaotic and action-packed nature of the story, it's important to acknowledge their feelings for each other and the ship that Ikemoto and Kishimoto are slowly building. By the time Boruto: Two Blue Vortex ends, it is highly likely that Konoha's Hokage at the time, Sarada Uchiha, will be together with the other Hokage of the village protecting her from the shadows, Boruto Uzumaki. It would be a perfect romantic ending for these two individuals as well as a sweet ending to the story.

“You want to become Hokage, don't you? Fine, then I'll protect you and play a supporting role!” — Boruto Uzumaki, Boruto Chapter #11

Boruto Creator Mikio Ikemoto Lines A Love Triangle with Sumire

Whenever romance enters Boruto is discussed, a love triangle always appears. Boruto Uzumaki is known to adore Sarada Uchiha, while she is clearly in love with him. However, there is also Sumire, whom the author threw in the crosshairs. Sumire has a deep love for Boruto Uzumaki and is not afraid to show her interest. With her in the mix, Mikio Ikemoto created a successful love triangle that divided the fan base.

That said, it's very clear that Boruto's feelings for Sumire are those of a mere friend. At the same time, Sumire is only a supporting character in the grand scheme of things, while Sarada is the protagonist of the series. Boruto and Sarada are very likely to end up together, while Sumire simply serves the purpose of adding more spice and drama to the romance plot Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes. In time, Sumira's feelings will resolve and she will probably end up with someone else, maybe even Kawaki.

“Does it bother you when other girls show interest in Boruto? Well, it definitely bothers me. I like Boruto!” — Sumire shows her love for Boruto Uzumaki

Boruto and Sarada make the strongest and most important couple in the series, and V-jump Issue #8 certainly gave fans a glimpse into the future where these two end up together and ruling the village like the power couple that they are. We can only hope that the upcoming new arc Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, which focuses heavily on Sarada Uchiha's character, will give us more tidbits related to her and Boruto's romantic storyline. That would be absolutely perfect and would raise the stakes of the story even more and make it more popular among fans as well.
