Many profile badges on Roblox will disappear in 2026, and some fans fear that the feature will be removed entirely. Official news from Roblox The staff seems sharper and more optimistic about the upcoming changes, but the response from players has been anything but happy.

Players are unhappy with the new Roblox chat and age verification update, expressing many issues with the process and overall concept.
Roblox fans shouldn't get too attached to their profile badges
But one feature that was s Roblox as its September 2006 launch will be discontinued, likely before the platform reaches its 20th anniversary. The game's developers announced via the official Roblox forum that many system badges will be removed from profiles sometime in early 2026. The badges that are set to be removed will no longer be attainable by players and, according to the announcement, “do not reflect the ways users and creators express themselves today.” The announcement goes on to justify the removal of these badges by saying it will help developers “make the profile easier to use” and add room to add more features. Roblox profiles in the future.
While these changes will result in the removal of older system badges, the official release from the developers states that other badges will still be accessible and will still appear on users' profiles. Badges that have not been announced to be removed include developer award badges that players can earn by playing individual games, official verification badges, and admin badges that identify the profiles of official Roblox employee accounts. Replacing the system badges will be features that are currently in the planning stages, though they will need to go through a testing process before the team is ready to release them to the public. In addition, the development team intends to use these upcoming features to allow each player to showcase their unique “user identity and creator presence.”
But fans are not too sure about the upcoming changes, and there is unrest in the community that the change will lead to the eventual removal of all profile badges and the loss of personal identity. Although it won't go into effect for a few weeks, many fans are calling Roblox's management for what they preemptively consider a bad decision, with one commenting via Reddit: “NO WAY they're trying to remove all magic at this point.” Others worry that more changes may be coming, removing even more personalized aspects from the platform. While Roblox cosmetic item price inflation has been an issue players have faced for years, some are now nervous that avatar customization will face similar restrictions to those announced for user profiles.
The current legal battles the gaming platform is facing doesn't seem to be helping its quest to appeal to gamers either. Already in 2025, Roblox has been sued by the states of Texas, Louisiana, Kentucky and private individuals for its alleged failure to protect underage users from potential child predators, which has reportedly led to the arrest of more than 20 people. That number includes one man accused of kidnapping a 10-year-old California girl with whom he developed an online connection through Roblox and Discord. Management tried to implement more child safety features as backlash against the company grew, such as using photo verification services to estimate users' ages and limiting their chat options to others based on approximate age groups. However, there have been many reports of this system being inaccurate in estimating users' ages, and many players are unhappy about being cut off from general chat.
