Compared to the previous month Forza Horizon 6, 007 First Lightand Lego BatmanJune 2026 triple-A lineup is somewhat lacking. The biggest news of the month so far has been the ports; for example, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition running on Switch 2 while Where the winds meet debuted in the Xbox series. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, as these bona fide masterpieces are now in the hands of a whole new player base, but they're not exactly the most exciting news.
While things pick up in the second half of the month with The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, UFC 6, Deltarune: Chapter 5and Star Foxthe first two weeks still managed to produce some fantastic games that could and should be remembered as some of the year's best. So far, June has given us a monster shooter, a train survival simulation, and an exciting Early Access RPG.
Assuming it goes well enough, I plan to update this article at the end of June to cover the second half of the month. Will we see more masterpieces?
Voidling Bound
Best New Game of June 2026 (So Far)
In theory, combining several masterpieces should yield a guaranteed 10/10, but reality rarely works that way. Whenever a developer goes down this route, the game tends to feel like a mish-mash of ideas that mostly serve to remind players that they could be spending their time on something better. Fusing Monster Rancher, Sporeand Risk of rain 2 create the ultimate monster taming shooter, Voidling Bound somehow brings everything together to create an experience that is simultaneously more than the sum of its parts, while not necessarily better than all of its inspirations (mainly Risk of rain 2).

All the big upcoming PS5 games for 2026 and beyond
From JRPGs to platformers, racing and open-world titles, here are all the big new PS5 games releasing in 2026 and beyond.
Despite clearly walking in the footsteps of giants, Voidling BoundThe game's strongest point is its uniqueness – simply put, no other game on Steam offers this particular combo. With 9 voidlings currently available to choose from, you'll take to the battlefield to shoot, slash and jump your way across the map, smashing all sorts of enemies and bosses along the way. When you're not doing that, you can play mad scientist as you gene-slice to spawn an impressive array of subspecies with unique looks and movesets. You'll level up your creature while unlocking new skills. The game loop is addictive as hell and Voidling Bound is a steal at $24.99 (or $18.74 in the current Steam sale).
Potential to be A 10/10: Gothic 1 Remake
A little more Polish and we have an RPG masterpiece
AND Gothic a game that isn't, at least somewhat polarizing, isn't Gothic game at all. The Alkimia remake had to be downright fantastic to live up to the memory of the original, which stands as one of the most progressive and ambitious RPGs of the early 21st century. Gameplay, the developer has managed to preserve the charm, atmosphere and challenge of its ancestor; however, the game launched in a frustrating state that contained quite a few bugs and glitches. Not outright unplayable, but annoying enough to dampen the overall experience.
On June 12, Alkimia released Patch 1.0.1, which fixes a few issues with the base game, though not everything. at this point Gothic it's in acceptable enough condition to warrant a recommendation for fans of the original who were on the fence. Newbies looking for an immersive RPG that puts them in the role of a nobody stuck in an unscrupulous society (and world) fueled by strained factional relations will find no better place than Gothic in 2026. Alkimia deserves endless praise for successfully maintaining the core of the classic while still modernizing the overall experience and greatly improving the combat.
Piranha Bytes may be gone, but the developer's memory lives on in 2026.
Unrailed 2: Back on Track
Best new co-op game of June 2026
Derailed! flawlessly executes an uncomplicated concept: clear the track so the train doesn't derail. As a sequel, Indoor Astronaut was in a tricky spot, needing to expand on the idea without over-complicating and diminishing the straightforward appeal of the first game. Well, you can say that Unrailed 2: Back on Track succeeded. Wisely, the sequel mostly kept the “clear track for the ever-running train” core gameplay intact; players must clear, chop and build again to keep the prize clear for as long as possible. If you enjoyed the simple beauty of the original, Derailed 2 the good times will continue.

Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 games for 2026 and beyond
Splatoon, Metal Gear, and Elden Ring are just some of the franchises that will be releasing Switch 2 games in 2026.
The development of the sequel comes mainly in the activities around the game loop. The shift from roguelike to roguelite, Derailed 2 allows trains to be upgraded and customized using permanent unlocks, allowing for quite a wide assortment of configurations. Now you can create your own terrains and share them with the community. You can even engage in optional boss fights. There's even an online leaderboard for the 8-player VS mode, further enhancing the community aspect. Derailed 2 is a prime example of a nearly perfect sequel.
Potential to be A 10/10: Fatekeeper (Early Access)
Sneak Preview for 10/10 Masterpiece June 2028 (a month completely created by me)
Full disclosure, current version Fat man definitely not 10/10, but that's the whole point of early access. Players maintain these projects in the hope that they could eventually realize their potential and become the game they dreamed of when they first saw the list. Fat man is a true early access release and is closer to a proof of concept than a near-complete offering that might need some fine-tuning. You currently get several hours of gameplay that showcases the vision of Paraglacial: The New Version of the game Dark Messiah of power and magic.
Yes, the available 2-3 hours feature a first-person combat system that combines swords and magic while rewarding creativity, much like Arkane's underrated classic, albeit with slower gameplay. Heck, action RPGs even share similarities Skyrim. While I'd normally be cautious about recommending Early Access games with so little content, Fat man it has a few things going for it. First, it's only $9.99 and $7.99 on sale. Second, it's published by THQ Nordic, which at least suggests that the project has some real backing and will hopefully actually leave early access at some point.
Special Mention: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (Switch 2 and Xbox Series)
Largest port June 2026
Well, I had to include one port since it's such a big part of June's game lineup. If you own a Switch 2 or Xbox Series, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthh could be the biggest game of the month for you, figuratively and literally. Set in a massive open world filled with optional content, Square Enix's masterpiece is designed to keep players hooked for a long, long time. WITH Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Confirmed for 2027, this port should help millions of players prepare for the final chapter of the trilogy, and the upcoming release will debut simultaneously on all systems.
