The Game Awards is tonight, but one of its biggest trailers may have leaked beforehand. A trailer showing off the new Tomb Raider game has surfaced online, giving us a good look at the new, unified design for Lara Croft.
While we can't verify the legitimacy of this trailer, especially in the age of artificial intelligence, it looks too sophisticated and well-founded to be either a fan creation created (or created) for a hoax. If it's legit, it's unclear how it surfaced online hours before the show, but either way, it could be our first look at the new Tomb Raider game.
This could be our first trailer for the next Tomb Raider game
Many are saying that this is a trailer for a Tomb Raider remake, rather a rumored new installment in the series. It definitely looks the part, with both character and level design being very classic – inspired by Lara.
We already knew there would be some kind of Tomb Raider reveal at The Game Awards, but some expected to hear about a brand new game rather than a remake. In 2022, it was rumored that the new installment would feature a team of raiders, not just Lara Croft. This definitely doesn't look like a trailer for this game if it's still in the works.

Looks like Lara Croft is waiting for another reboot.
Still, a remake would at least be some activity since the series has been pretty dead for quite some time now. Outside of re-releases of classic games, it's been eight years since the last release, Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Fans have been patient and eager to see a Tomb Raider game this generation.
We'll find out what's going on here later today, with The Game Awards starting at 7:30pm ET/12:30pm GMT.
