It's always sad to see a once-prominent first-person shooter series begin to wane in quality or even cease to exist at all. Call of Duty is a franchise that's hard to imagine ever going away, but if the quality doesn't pick up soon, fans may start to leave. Sights are constantly practiced Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

For whatever reason, these shooters were eventually largely forgotten. While most of their developers or publishers have never said anything definitive about not making any more games, from sequels to remasters, it's hard to see a return of these shooters. Call of Juarez started out as a first-person shooter Western in 2006, which was actually a European release. Besides Call of Juarez: The Cartelwhich was set in modern times and was poorly received, all three Western entries are praised in their own ways.
The last game was Call of Juarez: Gunslinger in 2013, which received a somewhat recent Switch port in 2019. The developer, Techland, is still around, so they might make a new game at some point, but as of 2015, they seem to be more interested in Dying lightwhich is probably the reason Call of Juarez it's done.

Conduit was a Wii exclusive shooter that was about aliens invading Washington. DC in the modern era. It's two games, with the sequel ending on a major cliffhanger with a famous president that fans are still reeling from.
Technically, the last entry in the series was the Android conversion of the original in 2013, two years after the release of the sequel. The developer, High Voltage Software, now mostly exists to port existing games to other hardware, which may be why fans shouldn't hold their breath. Management 3.

Blacknessas a concept, first appeared in 1996 in comics. It took more than a decade, but in 2007 a game was finally released in which mobster Jackie Estacado was obsessed with creatures that helped him in battle, from small fetch goblins to tentacles that could grab enemies.
The game got a sequel in 2012 with a new comic aesthetic, and then that was it. Starbreeze Studios developed the first game, while Digital Extremes created the sequel, and it seems unlikely that either company would want to try another game given how long it's been.

Duke Nukem started as a side-scrolling action game in 1991 before making the big leap into first person Duke Nukem 3D in 1996. With many spinoffs and ports, Duke Nukem remained in the cultural zeitgeist for several years, with rumors of a major new game in limbo.
The sequel Duke Nukem foreverit didn't come out until 2011, seemingly killing the franchise forever, and its current owner, Gearbox, doesn't seem interested in trying again. There is room for a parody shooter and Duke Nukem it could be the one if someone has a good idea for a sequel.

Red steel consists of an original game set in modern times, and Red steel 2which takes place in the Old West. Both games were developed by Ubisoft Paris, with the first entry being a launch title for the Wii that was met with little praise.
However, the sequel, which took advantage of the Wii MotionPlus add-on, made motion control much better. With Ubisoft generally having a lot going on at the moment, it's probably safe to say that anything unrelated to Assassin's Creed, Far Cryor Tom Clancy will be largely ignored for now.

Perfect darkness is a rare treat, literally, which was their N64 shooter follow-up to their wildly popular adaptation Golden eye 007. Rare followed up this spy thriller with a prequel, Perfect Dark Zeroin 2005, just in time to launch alongside the Xbox 360. For decades, fans have been wishing for a sequel, and then in 2020, it looked like their wish would come true.
Untitled Perfect darkness the game, which appeared at The Game Awards 2020, was developed by new studio The Initiative along with Crystal Dynamics in a joint effort. Unfortunately, Microsoft pre-empted the project in 2025, so it's now back on the drawing board.

There was a long gap until 2020 Medal of Honor: Above and Beyondwhich was a VR game and was also not well received, which is probably why EA is no longer interested in continuing the franchise.

The Battlefield the series began in 2002 Battlefield 1942but one of the most popular spin-offs, Battlefield: Bad Companywouldn't take off until 2008. It was a funnier group of soldiers with a bonus in a destructible environment, and because of that it gained moderate popularity within the series.
There were only two games, not counting expansions, and then that was it. Like most Battlefield games, these spinoffs were developed by DICE, which continues the franchise for EA in what appears to be a successful situation. Battlefield 6.
