Bethesda released a brand new one Fallout 4 update for December 2025, but fans on one particular platform aren't happy. That's because the latest Fallout 4 the update is missing one crucial feature that Bethesda promised fans on the Xbox Series X/S, and players are responding by letting the developer know how they feel.
Bethesda launched last month Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition to celebrate the game's 10th anniversary and it didn't quite go as planned. Despite having all of the game's DLC and over 150 Creation Club items in one package, there were many issues with the mods, specifically the Creations Menu, leading to many frustrated players online. This developed quite quickly Fallout 4 being review bombarded on Steam by angry players letting Bethesda hear their feelings in the best way they knew how. Bethesda quickly responded with a small update schedule as it looked like it would receive Annual issue back to working order. This latest Fallout 4 patch is one such update, but it doesn't add a feature that Xbox players have been looking forward to for some time.
8 harsh realities of Fallout's 4th anniversary replay
Fallout 4 is a game that players can easily immerse themselves in for hours, but there are a few frustrations that fans have to deal with when playing in 2025 and beyond.
Bethesda has posted patch notes online for December 2025 Fallout 4 update. At first glance, it seems to solve many problems that have ever arisen Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition has been released, including a fix for the missing Creation Bundles add-on for Steam. The game also now recognizes Creation Club content when loading save files from older builds Fallout 4. In addition, the patch notes also claim to have fixed crashes related to downloading Creations, which Bethesda points out were particularly prevalent on PlayStation 4 and 5. There are plenty of other fixes to address minor issues, so this is a small but important update for Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition.
And while it's good to see Bethesda trying to fix the things it managed to break Fallout 4: Anniversary Editionmany Xbox Series X/S players are not happy. The update still lacks the 100GB storage expansion, which is supposed to massively increase the number Fallout 4 Mods can be downloaded by players on Xbox. For context, the current limit is only 2GB, so it will be a very substantial increase when it arrives. In the patch notes, Bethesda acknowledges that “this was one of the top requests from players” and says “our goal was to launch the storage expansion on consoles this year.” He admits, however, that “While the team has made progress, we need a little more time to launch it for console players and will have to wait until the new year.”
Players online were quick to respond to the disappointing news on X, with players suggesting that Bethesda should “stop promising if you can't deliver.” Another user joked that even though they can't get a mod storage boost Fallout 4the developer still managed to release another one Skyrim port at that time. As it is, the players are really not satisfied and their patience for the new year is slowly waning. Hopefully, the developers will fix this quickly next year and players won't be waiting for more mod space in 2026.
As for what's next for the franchise, Bethesda is usually tight-lipped about upcoming projects. Season 2 of the popular TV adaptation is set to premiere very soon, while Todd Howard recently confirmed that Bethesda is working on a lot of things in Fallout universe. Since more than 10 years have passed since then Fallout 4 Launching now, it seems as though the new main game in the series has been delayed, but development continues The Elder Scrolls 6 still complicates the whole thing a bit.
