The Legend of Zelda has two more huge releases this year and I can't wait

The Legend of Zelda has been on the rise for the past decade, starting with the debut Tears of the Kingdom through the release of the second LEGO Ocarina of Time set earlier this year. For a franchise that likes to take its time between releases, or at least used to, it feels like you can't go a few months without some new Zelda thing coming out. 2026 was no different, and Zelda fans had plenty to be excited about. But it can be said that the biggest The Legend of Zelda this year's releases are still on the way.

The Legend of Zelda is getting a makeover on Switch 2

Without a doubt, this is one of the biggest news of the year The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake. Rumored for a few months now, the remake was officially revealed during the Nintendo Direct in June with a very minimal trailer. Aside from a brief glimpse of baby Link in his home in the Kokiri forest, we didn't see any gameplay, UI elements, or really get a real sense of the art style. There is probably more to show from the game and fans shouldn't have to wait too long. Remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is targeting a 2026 release date.

While a lot of 2026 games are being avoided Grand Theft Auto 6and overflowing the month of September in the process, The Legend of Zelda: OoT Remake feels like the type of game that could stake its own claim come November. Of course, there's always the possibility that a game will be delayed – a release window with no game at all is confusing – but right now it should count among the most anticipated games left to release in 2026.

In addition Remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of TimeNintendo also has at least one more Zelda release set for later this year. This one might not have the same appeal as a remake of one of the biggest video games of all time, but there are plenty of fans lining up to pick up this next release.

Mineru's Construct is getting the Nintendo Amiibo treatment

In September, Nintendo will release Mineru's Construct Amiibo, which Tears of the Kingdom fans will know as one of Zonai's best creations in the game. Nintendo smartly saved the Construct for later in the game – depending on how you played – but it was a real charm whenever you unlocked it. However, given how cool and surprising Mineru's Construct is, it makes sense why Nintendo didn't want to release an Amiibo at the time Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomlaunch. Now that a lot of time has passed, the Amiibo can get its time to shine.

Zelda fans got to spend more time with Minera and learn some of her story Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, Dynasty Warriors-style hack-and-slash spin-off that came out last year. And if they pick up Miner's Amiibo construct, they'll unlock special items Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdomor The age of imprisonment.

While the new release for The Legend of Zelda used to be a once-in-a-generation event, Nintendo has locked into a release cadence that keeps the franchise regularly in the minds of fans, much like Pokemon. We get spin-offs, spin-offs, remakes and branded merchandise while the core team works on the sequel Tears of the Kingdomwhich is said to be another departure for the franchise.

There have been some great moments recently, but 2026 could be one of the best years yet The Legend of Zelda in recent memory, although there is no mainline release. Ocarina of Time The LEGO set is a more affordable offering with some really fantastic minifigures, that Mineru's Construct Amiibo is just the kind of unique draw that Nintendo loves with its figures, and Ocarina of Time remake is a fantastic conclusion The Legend of Zelda40 years anniversary.

But it doesn't end there. We will see a release next year The Legend of Zelda the long awaited live action movie. And at least one more LEGO Zelda set is rumored to be in the works.
