Between a record haul at the Game Awards and a Game of the Year title just about everywhere else, you might think it's a foregone conclusion that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will be a GOTY for everyone. Apparently not PlayStation gamers, as users of that particular console named Ghost of Yotei their favorite game of 2025.
The Official PlayStation Blog has shared the results of its Game of the Year vote, and Ghost of Yotei won the best PS5 game award, not Expedition 33. Before you say, “Well, yeah, Expedition 33 isn't a PlayStation game, so it's not eligible,” fans could vote for any game that came out on PS5 in 2025, whether it was a PlayStation release or not.

This is reflected in the second best PS5 game ranking. The PlayStation Blog uses a trophy system where Yotei is awarded Platinum and Expedition 33 Gold for receiving the second highest number of votes. Death Stranding 2 earned the silver trophy and Arc Raiders won the bronze.
Yotei was by far the biggest winner, taking home seven awards out of ten categories up for grabs. Awards for Best Art Direction were included on her PS Blog – Clair took home another award from the Game Awards – Best Accessibility Feature and Atsu won Platinum for Best New Character.

Despite dominating the category at the Game Awards, only one character from Expedition 33 made it into the top four PlayStation awards. That was Maelle, and not only was Atsu beating her, but Hornet from Hollow Knight: Silksong was ranked higher. Hinako from Silent Hill f completes the best new character lineup on the PS blog.
Clair Obscur has won several other awards
Although it had to take a back seat to Yotei, Expedition 33 did not leave empty-handed. PlayStation gamers — over 1.5 million of you voted, by the way — awarded Clair platinum for its story, soundtrack and named it the best indie game of the year.
Elsewhere, Silksong technically won Game of the Year as it was voted best PS4 game of the year, an award neither Yotei nor Expedition 33 is eligible for. Without Mario Kart World to compete with, Sonic Racing: Crossworlds won Best Sports Game and Oblivion Remastered, Released for Xbox game, won the PlayStation Award for Best Rerelease/Remaster, a category the Game Awards should really consider adding to their lineup.
