Former Rockstar quality tester Adam Butterworth responded to players who discovered Red Dead Redemption 2's spider's web mystery, claiming it's “absolutely wild people found it. I remember hearing about it and thinking it would never be discovered.” So Butterworth not only confirmed that the mystery is very real, and not just an incredible series of coincidences, but it's also so well hidden that even the developers never saw it coming.
