  • Sung Jinwoo became a popular main character

Solo Leveling has become incredibly popular around the world. Many of Solo Leveling's successes can be traced back to one character, and that is Sung Jinwoo, the protagonist of the series. Jinwoo started off very weak storywise, as most MCs do. He was considered weak even among E-Rank Hunters, who are already the weakest among Hunters. However, everything changed for him during the events of Double Dungeon. Jinwoo was eventually chosen and was granted the ultimate power to reach a higher level.

With this ability, Jinwoo gained the skill to grow and grow stronger. Meanwhile, all the other Hunters are stuck in the awakening level. This made Jinwoo an absolute beast, and as seen in season 2, he reached a level beyond S-Rank Hunter. Jinwoo showed his incredible abilities in his battle on Jeju Island against the Ant King.

I am the record of your struggles, the proof of your resistance, and the reward for your suffering. I am death, I am eternal rest, I am horror. – Ashborn Sung Jinwoo, Solo Leveling Manhwa

Jinwoo's rise from weak to one of the strongest, as well as his nonchalant personality, definitely made him a favorite among anime fans. actually is so popular that he was voted Best Main Character of the Year at the 2025 Crunchyroll Awards. Jinwoo defeated the likes of Frieren and Maomao to achieve this title and it shows how popular he has become. Solo Leveling's Jinwoo will only go up from here.

Solo Leveling Author confirms big plans for new sequel series

A new sequel may be coming for Solo Leveling, as revealed by the original creator.

Sung Suho takes on the role of the protagonist in the sequel to the Solo Leveling series, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. Suho is the child of Jinwoo and Cha Hae In, and like his father, he is quite impressive in battle.

Suho inherits Jinwoo's powers as the next Shadow Monarch. Despite this, he is not a 1 to 1 copy of Jinwoo. Suho stands out in his own way. Unlike his father, Suho relies more on the people around him. He is even able to create shadow weapons to give to his allies for example.

This makes fans believe that Suho not only replaced Jinwoo, but that he is in many ways a better version of Jinwoo and a better Solo Leveling main character.

Fans hope that one day Solo Leveling: Ragnarok will also get an anime adaptation. Of course, that won't happen anytime soon, but if Solo Leveling remains as popular as it is now, it's almost a guarantee that this sequel will be revived in the future.

Is Sung Suho's Adventure In Solo Leveling: Ragnarok Canon?

Sung Suho's Adventure In Solo Leveling: Ragnarok Canon

  • Solo Leveling Ragnarok takes place in another universe

Sung Suho took over after Jinwoo's story ended, but fans often wonder if his story is canon at all. After all, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok wasn't written by Chugong. Instead of the original Chugong creator, Solo Leveling Ragnarok was written by another writer known as Daul.

My mom always told me that I was starting to resemble my dad pretty well…so how would he escape that feeling of helplessness…?? ~Sung Suho

While it is true that the authors are different, this project was approved by Chugong and he truly considers it canon to his story. However, there is a major catch. Chugong confirms that while Solo Leveling Ragnarok is canon, it's just fan serviceand is not set in the same verse as his original story. In other words, Solo Leveling Ragnarok is canon as another timeline for the series.

“Ragnarok was a spin-off made for fanservice. I was curious how another author would write Solo Leveling. This story is part of the Solo Leveling universe, but it's not a direct continuation of the main plot. It's more of one of many possible scenarios – similar to Marvel's parallel universes. And of course I'm also considering writing a sequel.” — Chugong

In the original Solo Leveling universe, Jinwoo may never have a son named Suho. For now though, until Chugong makes another sequel, Ragnarok is the best and only fans of the sequels will get it.
