PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers have a very busy day ahead of them. Tuesday, January 20 sees another big PlayStation Plus update, with nine new games hitting the service while four more titles leave.
The PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers work much differently than the Essential tier. The games added to the PS Plus Essential tier are essentially “free” games that subscribers can keep access to indefinitely as long as they are registered with the service. In contrast, games in the extra and premium tiers alternate and are unavailable, similar to Xbox Game Pass. There's usually one big update to the PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers every month, and this month it's landing on January 20th.
The free download means you don't have to wait until January 20 to play one of the new PS Plus extra games
Some PlayStation fans can play one upcoming PS Plus Extra game a little early, thanks to a free download previously made available to subscribers.
