Hitman World of Assassination is officially getting a cross-progression update on February 3rd that will allow players to transfer their saves and most of their progress data across all 10 platforms Hitman is now playable on. This upcoming cross progression update was announced as part of Hitman World of AssassinationCelebrating it's fifth anniversary, although there is a significant catch associated with this update for so long Hitman fans should be aware.
Hitman World of Assassination launched on January 20, 2021, originally under the title Hitman 3. Initially the third entry in IO Interactive's Hitman pseudo-reboot trilogy, Hitman 3 was rebranded as Hitman World of Assassination in January 2023, with all content from the previous two items added to the game at no additional cost. Although he is now five years old, Hitman 3/World of Assassination continues to receive frequent content updates, from full DLC expansions to a large number of star-studded Elusive Target missions.
007 First Light Dev on Comparisons: 'We can't just reskin a Hitman game and call it Bond'
IO Interactive comments on speculation that 007 First Light, the studio's next release, is just a reskin of its past Hitman games.
Hitman World of Assassination is getting crossover development in February
IO Interactive has officially announced that there will be an update across progression Hitman World of Assassination February 3, 2026. To enable cross-promotion, players will first need to link their IO Interactive account to each platform they play on. They will then need to select one of their platforms as the “Primary” profile that all other platforms will copy their save/progress data from. For example, setting up a PS5 account with a Hitman player level 5000 as the primary profile will mean that the same player level 5000 character can be accessed on a PC account if they both log into the same IO Interactive account. It should be noted that to access cross-progression on another platform, players must first purchase Hitman World of Assassination for this particular platform.
Here is all the progress data that will be transferred between the following platforms Hitman World of AssassinationUpcoming Cross Development Updates:
- Experience
- Player level
- Challenges
- Location Championship
- Unlocks and inventory
- Achievements / Trophies
- Progression in Freelancer mode
- Campaign story progression
Unfortunately not every aspect Hitman World of Assassination transfers seamlessly between console, PC and mobile. In order to access any DLC-related rewards or content, players must own it on the platform they are attempting to play on, regardless of whether they already own the DLC on their primary profile platform. For example, ownership James Bond: Casino RoyaleThe 'Banker Pack' inspired DLC on PC will not give players access to these cosmetic missions or the Elusive Target missions on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X or any other platform. To access the Banker Pack content, players would have to purchase the DLC again on the new platform.
It should be noted that when cross-progression is active, players will not be able to load any save data that is not tied to the primary profile. If players want to return to a Hitman World of Assassination to save a file that was created on a non-primary platform, they simply have to disable cross-progression and each of their non-primary accounts will return to the same state they were in before linking.
Hitman World of Assassination is losing the Hitman 2 Carryover feature
Another downside to this otherwise mostly positive update cross progression is the ability to transfer save data from Hitman 2 is completely removed. According to IO Interactive's official announcement, this Hitman 2 The transfer feature is removed because it “guarantees data integrity and avoids conflicts between legacy progression systems and the new unified WOA progression”. The removal of this feature will take effect on February 3rd, so any players who still need to convert their Hitman 2 save data to Hitman World of Assassination still have about two weeks left (at the time of this writing).
